100 Followers, Updates and Other Things That Are Less Related Two The First Two

First thing’s first… I may or may not have flipped out a little bit as soon as I saw that this game had 100 followers. Holy crap, I can’t thank you people enough for supporting this game THIS fast! Honestly, 90% of the projects I make that are of this nature never get noticed by any more than ten or twenty people, so this is kind of a big deal for me. Thank you all so very much for the support and I will do everything in my power to make sure that this game is incredible.

I’d also like to quickly mention a certain individual called Steampunkdan123 who is also making a continuation of Vale of Darkness, although he certainly seems to be taking a different approach. His game (currently also in devlog) goes by the title of RWBY: Fractured Hope here on Gamejolt. I very much look forward to seeing where he went with everything and wish him luck with his development.

One thing I may want to mention is that this game will have a lot more humor thrown in throughout. It’s just how I tend to do things. That doesn’t mean I’m going to disregard the whole drama aspect of it, but it does mean that there are going to be more jokes and references throughout the whole project. Some of them will most likely be somewhat mature in nature, and the overall game is probably going to me more mature as well (partially due to the change in the show’s tone, partially because I’m the developer of this game), but I’m gonna try and keep the teen rating. The pictures attached to this post are weapon descriptions that I’ve customized (all of them were done months ago. I just found them again recently). These are probably the best example of the kind of humor that’s going to be put into the game a bit more, and they’re also the best preview of the game I’m willing to give at the moment.

Next up… what progress have I made in the past two weeks or so? The answer is simple… finals were going on and I was in both a political science and 200 level language class… That doesn’t mean I didn’t get anything done, but it does mean i didn’t exactly get too much done. One thing I did was I thought of a better way to start the game than I currently have. I need to sit down and root through the original game’s files to make sure that my idea works with the ideas given in the previous game, but if it doesn’t, I’ll just work with what I currently have.

I did finish most of the composition for the main town theme, though, which is very nice. I have to mention, though, that for orchestral pieces such as the town theme, I have to use MIDI instruments for the sound files. Namely, the ones provided with Guitar Pro 6, so they won’t necessarily sound like a real orchestra recorded them, but that doesn’t mean they’ll sound like shit or anything. They sound alright.

On to other things. I intend to get back to recording stuff for YouTube this week. If you want to see how much of a massive nerd I am while you wait for me to add more to the game, my channel is here. I do things such as let’s plays and a bunch of other shit. Enjoy me in all my mediocrity as an entertainer!!

Alongside that, I’ve also gotten back into speedrunning lately. I’ve been meaning to get back to it, but school just hasn’t given me enough time to do that AND make a game AND keep myself from going totally insane. Hopefully, one day I’ll be able to say “I need to take time off from developing and school and such because I’m going to do a speedrun at AGDQ!” Speaking of which, AGDQ is next month and I’m super hyped for it! If you don’t know what AGDQ is, it stands for Awesome Games Done Quick and it’s a charity marathon of speedruns that lasts a week and goes 24/7 for that whole week. There’s also one in the summer as well. Both of them help raise literal millions of dollars for charity every year.

If you can’t tell, I’m a rather ambitious person. I do a lot of things, all of them because I’m passionate and interested and all of them make my parents question where they could have possibly went wrong. Anyways, if you’ve read this far, thanks for indulging in my outburst of nerdism, and I promise that I’ll get more done by the next time I update this!

Heya! I wanted to show some gameplay progress i made so far. I hope you like it ^^

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Finished work on the emotions of a new character for the tank universe
