8th April 2025 news post thingie for Cube's Dark Hours Reopened:


Heyo, how are you all doing? Hope you're all doing well!

I know I've been gone for a bit, but that's just life, you know?

Anyways, let's move along with this post before my laptop dies (gaming laptop batteries absolutely suck, even the budget models):


Why did you tease so much stuff, even though the demo is an April Fools joke?

Well, why not?


Will you optimize RAM usage on your older games like you did with Cube's Dark Hours 3?

Probably not. The reason is because the older games never really exceeded 700mb of RAM. Cube's Dark Hours 3 was a special occassion, since the game was pulling 1.2gb to 1.5gb of RAM, which was scraping Clickteam's limit by a ton.

Surprisingly, the RAM optimization was easier than expected! In the latest update (v1.1.0d), the game should now be pulling under 700mb of RAM, even though Cube's Dark Hours 3 is a much more jam-packed game compared to the previous ones!


Will Cube's Dark Hours Reopened be more optimized?

Yes, and I am making sure that it is! File size can vary, but keeping RAM usage optimized is one of the big goals to achieve!

For Clickteam nerds, Things such as usage of Global Values, object Alterable Values, create/destroying objects when necessary, so on so forth, is pretty good knowledge to know when keeping stuff optimized not just for RAM usage, but overall development!

(I may have butchered the explanation, but my excuse is that I am still somewhat a beginner, maybe an amateur now, I don't know)


Will Cube's Dark Hours Reopened have a 6th Night?

yep


Will the cameras and the office windshield actually be useful?

yep


Will The "Shadow" be more than just a "Golden Freddy" reskin?

That's the plan, but you'll just have to wait and see :]


Are you planning to make other achievements instead of only Custom Night challenge stars?

I definetly want to look into it! I've always wanted to make actual achievements ever since the first game's release instead of only having the Custom Night challenge stars!

Before you ask: No, the Custom Night challenge stars are not being removed. They will still be visible on the main menu (just like Cube's Dark Hours 3), except now, for these other achievements, I would make a seperate menu to display them!

(Take this section with a massive grain of salt. I am not confirming the addition of achievements, because I'm not even sure whether the idea may be scrapped or not, as it is still pretty early)


If you do plan on making achievements, will you also link them to GameJolt?

I have no idea where to even begin with the GameJolt API.

Unless someone is willing to teach me, the GameJolt achievement link will probably not happen.


How faithful will the classic skins be?

Surprisingly faithful!

And guess what? Some of the scrapped assets seen in the original game are making a comeback!


Will Doodlekat be making a comeback, as she was planned to make her debut in CDH1?

Nah, that would completely throw off the story's timeline.


Will the Shadow Clones make a comeback?

Nope


Can you show us some more stuff?

hmmmmmmm........ Nah.


Will the "Tape Messages" be re-recorded?

Yep


Is the top vent missing?

The top vent is still present, it's just no longer visible in the office.


How will we protect ourselves from Anty if the top vent is no longer visible? And what about the flash beacon?

Just listen to the "Tape Messages", they should drop eventually.


Why did you make the gray areas on the camera map 'inaccessible'?

Making them accessible would just be redundant.
