A High Score Based Game on Google Cardboard

If you’re reading this then you might be curious about how to make a good High Score Based VR game, like us.

Virtual Raiders is First Person Base Defense Game to be played with Google Cardboard VR. It’s a game where players defend a spacestation with four turrets, three of which fire autonomously when not controlled, and one which is under your control.
Manage the many threats approaching the space station by keeping an eye on the radar table in the middle of the station.

Some of the rules of good VR design we established based on others’ research are:

  • low to no acceleration (we have some movement in the game on purpose, but low acceleration)

  • Smooth everything (movement, animations, rotations)

  • Never constrain the player’s camera rotation, if constraints are needed, constrain objects, not the camera

  • Mix locked camera position with some walking around to get the best of both worlds

  • Holograms in VR are cool!

  • No UI elements if they are not anchored in the world somewhere (except a simple pointer)

That’s all for tonight. We’ll be back with more in-depth news on the game and art design and where it’s this weekend tomorrow!

Did you know that today is #InternationalJazzDay? 🎷😎

No? 😯 Well, we couldn't pass up this date!

And what better to celebrate this day than #Pecaminosa #OST? 🎷

Let us know what you think about it and have a great weekend!

We are under attack!

Chiaki Nanami!

Fan art for Foolish I'm feeling kinda better so I drew this

Just a Pico sprite

Werehog transformation process. #sonicunleashed

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

One of the most critical update for Sunblaze demo. Now you are able to pet a cat! Finally!

Spaaaace~

These are background sprites I've created for a game I'm working on at school ^w^ Click on the post to see how the sprites connect. You won't regret it! (personally, I think it's pretty heheh)
