Addressing Mods, fangames, etc

I will try to make this quick as I am currently suffering from a cold while trying to manage my time beyond Radiance, etc. Hopefully, this will be enough to address the situation properly, as I dread covering this topic knowing that some of you will very much disagree with my take on this. At least I tried.

A year ago, I came across a very interesting FNACEC: R mod made by the talented @CesarZ . Admittedly, as cool as I think it is now, I was very worried about the mentality and morals behind it and came very close to having it taken down. After a few hours of thinking, I concluded that I wouldn't, as I thought it was a civil and respectful approach to our work and the original project. Surely, something like this couldn't be weaponized, right? Oh, wait... it's the FNaF community.

There has been a recent influx of people re-uploading our work directly, making minor (and unneeded changes) to the games and passing it off as "definitive" and "better." On top of that, I have read comments from these people that do not respect the original project or us, unlike CesarZ. At that point, is it a fan game? Why should I let you steal our work and tarnish its reputation simultaneously? Your "mods" were not falsely reported. It was us. Please stop.

Additionally, I frankly find it concerning that people blatantly ignore asking us permission to do anything. If I had a penny for every half-assed Android Port I've had to take down yearly, mostly because they never ask us if we're okay with it, I'd be profiting off the FNaF IP. Before we make one of our reboot projects, I work to track down the original creators of each game (it took me nearly a year to get in contact with Leon, the creator of FNaCEC) and ask permission to take over and do what we do. If we are told no, we do not go through with it. Ironically, nobody seems to ask us for permission to make direct sequels and fangames of our work. Do you see the issue here?

Anyway, that's all I'm gonna comment on this topic. I didn't want to talk about this because I didn't expect it to go this far... but it's the FNaF community. Stop ruining the fun for others. We want to embrace fan work, not have to do things like this!

See you all later.
