Ancient Siberia has successfully passed the Steam review process, and is ready to be released in Early Access on 11th of December, 2017. At Valga Games we do our best trying to make the Ancient Siberia game more appealling for the players. Every day we add some new features, and fix bugs and imperfections. This post is meant to be a so-called progress report.
First of all, we have updated the default inventory. Apart from some vital items, such as a water bag helping to quench thirst, there are 4 new runes added. Each of them belongs to a different school of magic based on one of 4 elements, which are Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. These runes can help a character to defeat an enemy in a fight.
You can also polish your fighting skills by working out on a training ground with dummies and targets.
Now players can extract some valuable resources not only from the trees, but also from the bushes.
We have added basic quest system and adjusted the pre-game tutorials.
Some players have experienced the difficulties with in-game chatting, so that we fixed this problem, too.
We have spent a considerable amount of time on making our UI better and easier to interact with. We have added a context menu to the inventory window, and eliminated the problem with switching between the windows.
Our network specialists have solved some problems concerning the stability of the servers’ connection. Also, the FPS is much higher now, so the game looks better.
We added basic recipes including the runecraft ones. Now there are more valuable items available for crafting. Also, players can use the chests in order to keep their possessions safe.
Combat system is upgraded, and its animation is more natural and dynamic.
The mechanics of jumps were modified as well, also we eliminated the controllers’ mistakes.
As for the minor improvements, we decided to drop the sound of the character’s breathing while running. Some in-game sounds were modified, too.
Finally, we added a possibility to summon the monsters, so now players are able to fight them at the spot without looking for them first.
