Hey everyone, as of a couple of hours ago, I got fired from my job. 2025 is just not my year at all.

I told them I couldn’t close for dish tonight. When I went in, I thought I was just covering for the dishwasher until he came in — he never did. I’m too sick and weak to close for them this one night. I’ve closed for dish multiple times and covered before, and the one time I can’t, they fire me?

P.S. My job is not a dishwasher — I’m a host. I only offered to help with dishwashing until the dishwasher came in, because as a host, it’s annoying when the dish pit is full. Not once did I offer to close.

I also never said “Can I leave?” I said I wasn’t feeling well enough to close, referring to the closing dishwashing duties. I asked, “When do you want me to leave?” and my manager said, “You're good to go, you don’t work here anymore, so don’t worry.”
