Balance suggestion for Project Playtime,
specifically Boxy Boo.

@mobgames

Boxy Boo is definitely my favorite character

He's fun, and using the ability to hide in his box feels very satisfying to use when pulled off correctly.

Y'know what isn't fun? Playing against Boxy Boo.

Boxy Boo and Mommy Long Legs are without a doubt overpowered. While I don't play Mommy Long Legs enough nor go against her enough to say anything, I am confident I've had enough experience with Boxy Boo to try and suggest some balance changes for him.

Balance Changes

For starters, get rid of the grab ability. Its unnessacary and goes against the surprise attack nature of Boxy Boo. Its annoying at worst, and a free kill for Boxy Boo at best. On top of this, it can easily confuse newer players who are now wondering why they're 2-3 feet from where they just were, being another free kill for Boxy Boo.

I would replace it with a different version of one of Boxys already existing abilities, to go into box form.

Binding a togglable version to E or Q, that removes the Jumping part of the ability would be greatly useful and further push the whole ambushing players idea that Boxy already has going for him.

It'd be greatly helpful in smaller spaces where Jumping would waste time, and would be much easier to do than holding shift and waiting for someone to walk by.

Though this isn't me saying you should remove the shift ability, its greatly useful for places like in the theater, where you see someone from far away and are able to jump right over to them, a satisfying and rewarding trick to pull off.

Moving onto the shift ability itself, I think its currently perfectly fine. It matches Boxy Boo's surprise attack nature, and allows him to ambush unsuspecting players. However, the spamibility isn't something I enjoy as much. Having a slight cooldown on it after jumping (say 5 seconds) would still allow you to ambush players, while not letting you instantly jump across the entire map to go kill the poor noob unfortunate enough to have failed a puzzle.

In terms of Boxy Boo's music box though, I generally don't like it. Its a free tracking device to easily find players. I'd say make it less reliable, having the range of the volume change less depending on how close you are. That would keep it as a reliable way to stay near a player, while not making you a heat seeking missile able to instantly locate survivors.

Now, why locate survivors if you can doom them to death?
Hiding in lockers is a one way ticket to death if Boxy Boo finds you, his attack speed and damage being too much to get away if he finds you in one.

I suggest adding an extra 0.5 second cooldown to Boxy Boo's attack speed upon opening a locker, allowing players to at least have a fighting chance if caught inside a locker.

Conclusion

While I'm not confident any of these changes will be made to Boxy Boo, I do believe Boxy Boo needs a nerf. His arsenal is the biggest in-game, having more abilities at his disposal than Huggy or Mommy, meanwhile he only really needs 3 to be effective.

I hope these changes are at least considered, but if not that's fine. I thank you and anyone else who read this for taking the time to read this, and wish everyone a wonderful day.
