I’m pleased to announce a new and improved version 2.3 of my hand-painted adventure game, known as “The Testament of the White Cypress.” You can see a trailer for the game on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2TKEBAnxes and a simple tutorial video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bvp3saZs8s
Version 2.3 of “Cypress” is now available for Linux and Windows (Mac update from 2.2 coming soon.) This new build includes a number of user-friendly changes that should make the game easier, as well as a few bugfixes:
An autosave feature has been implemented; this saves to a separate file from the manual save.
The various save file names are now shown after saving, in case the user wishes to back up or restore the files.
The game now auto-pauses when important information or hints appear on a scroll, and the player must press Spacebar (or issue an action command with the mouse) to continue the game. This ensures you will have time to read the help hints.
Info scrolls now appear near the middle of the screen.
Fixed crash bug when right-clicking on level loading screen.
Fixed library loading errors for some Linux users
Linux binary is now 64-bit
Fixed info scroll obscuring player avatar
Although “Cypress” has been largely overlooked since its release, I hope that a few usability improvements could help new players have a better experience with the game. I hope you enjoy my little fantasy-adventure!
“Cypress” contains two or three hours of gameplay, depending on your reading speed. The soundtrack is also now available on GameJolt! Check out the player widget on the game’s page.
