Devlog 01: Adventure Jam - Narrative

It was a long jam, 15 days wasn't enough to put together all the ideas I had for the game.

The thing I like the most about the Adventure Jam is the focus on telling stories, this time I spent a lot of time setting up the story for the game.

The plot is about Engel a young sorcerer that is famous because her father was a hero that died in a great war, she admires her father but she wants to overcome his legacy and be recognized for her achievements.

After she wins a popular sorcerer tournament she is revealed that her father isn't actually dead, but imprisoned in another dimension by his former colleagues. Engel's mother thinks he was studying how to access a powerful knowledge by demons in order to save her for the illness that afflicts her.

That's how Engel's adventure in order to save her father begins, I don't want to spoil you the whole story, so if you want to know more, play the game. ;-) (actually, the current version only contains the main mechanic that is the sorcerers battle, but upcoming versions will cover that)

Having all the plot in mind and a clear narrative about what is the main story, I designed the game with that in mind and how I defined an interesting mechanic to give the user the experience to be in this sorcerers world.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
