Devlog 2 || 2/1/26


Hello everyone, new devlog!

Story

The story of the game is now updated to be a lot more cooler, interesting, and hopefully a lot more consistent than before. So now A:DI 4.0 takes place after Oblitus Casa (trust me it will all make sense when it does.) Now the story is connected with the story of Radiance's without changing it.

The summary for the game in the description has been updated, and everything about the story in the first devlog is no longer official. Hopefully this new story will be definitive and won't be changed again later in the future.


Characters

Since the start of development for A:DI 4.0, the number of characters was always something that worried me. The cast from 2.0 has been cut down to less than half for 4.0. I tried keeping as many characters as possible since that is what made ADI 2.0 different and not just another FNaTI remake.

While keeping the main cast from Treasure Island and Oblitus Casa, a handful of characters from ADI 2.0 have been added into A:DI 4.0 for custom night exclusives, as well as a few being in the main nights so that it's not just Treasure Island combined with Oblitus Casa.

Classic Mode

With the amount of custom night exclusive characters, it would be too much for me to think of a bunch of special challenges for each of them, so instead, Classic Mode will be added! (There will still be some special challenges)

Classic Mode will feature 80 characters all from ADI 2.0. In 2.0 there were 97 characters, and while that may sound overwhelming, it isn't at all and can somehow get boring at times. Even the max mode was easy and was only hard because of buggy AI.

Classic Mode will try to recreate ADI 2.0 but with fun, engaging, and challenging gameplay with new mechanics for almost every character, and even new renders for the characters in the main nights, Pirate Caverns, and even for their jumpscares, so now you won't just randomly die without knowing what killed you.

Progress

Since the first devlog, a lot of progress has been made. Almost all characters for the main nights are fully programmed except for Disembodied, Impurity, or Ortensia since their mechanics for Treasure Island are yet to be announced.

The 360 point and click system for Pirate Caverns is fully programmed. Nearly all of the content after the main nights are finished. Overall most of the game is already done and the only stuff left are things that I can't really work on until Treasure Island releases.
