Devlog One



Redesigns

-As you have seen in the thumbnail of the devlog,I'm going to make new designs for all the characters because they just don't look good (specially Freddy). The withering is lazy as fuck and the materials are awful. Also the proportions are kinda weird, in the renders they look right but in blender they look very bad.


Engine Change / FreeRoam

-A month ago I switched this project from Clickteam 2.5 to Unreal Engine 5, but after experimenting with the first person controller I decided that I dind't like it. Why? because this game is a reimagination of what the FreeRoam version of Dormitabis have could been, and the 3D first person FreeRoam of Unreal is too far for what I wanted. Soo after testing with different engines and trying to make a FreeRoam system that will no blow up, the new engine I'm using is... Godot 4.2. I'll show more stuff of this once I finished the first Floor or "Night" of the game.


Lore / Tapes

-The new lore I'm planning will be very different from the original, it won't have any r@pe and stupid edgy things. This includes what happened to the soul of chica, and the stupid five dollars that caused the bite of 83'. Also Garvey will not be the only villain in the game. And last but not least Garvey will not sound like the Joker anymore.

-Now the tapes will be pendrives that will be connected to different computers around the night. I decided to change the tapes to pendrives because The only object you have in the game is your phone, that acts like a flashlight, musicbox, radar, hour indicator, etc... so the tapes just wasn't going to fit.


Cardboar Theatre

-It will not be a cardboard theatre anymore, it will be a theatre with mannequins in it. You'll need to move them with the controller of the mannequins. And no more shit music.


"Night" Structure

-The "Night" will be divided in two, John and Peter. As John (main game) you'll need to pass the floors doing puzzles and find the pendrives (the tapes) trying not to die to your old friends. John is trapped here because he didn't know the things his brother was doing and because Peter could not free the souls of the dead. And as Peter you'll be in the "Fright", a place between the main game and hell, Peter is trapped here because he didn't find all the tapes. Well, you'll need to find the masks of the "prototypes" and burn them in the oven of the place, but there will be an enemy, "The Manniquin" a monster made out of the mannequins of "Fazbears Fright" (It's like soulcage, but better)


General Demo Progress

-The game is progressing at a slow but constant rate, consider that I'm the only one working in this, so I need to make all myself. Here are the percents :

  • Character modeling : 0% (I need to remake all the characters)

  • Envirorment modeling : 5%

  • FreeRoam mechanics : 10%

  • Pendrives (Tapes) : 5%

  • Animatronics AI : 5%

  • Sound Effects : 5%

  • OST : 0%

  • General Demo Progress : 7.5%
