This is a bit of a surprise, huh? I didn't actually plan on releasing another patch for 2.7, since I've already been working on the next major update (v2.8.0) for a while now, but there have been some shenanigans going on that required my attention.
The DFC admin team and I are aware of the crashing incidents that have been happening in the game for the past few days, and we have determined the cause of them to be the work of a few troublemakers
with a lot of free time on their hands, apparently. Even though it won't be that long until DFC reaches its end-of-service and starts allowing mods anyway, some people just want to ruin the fun for everyone while they still can.
We have some plans in place in case things escalate, but hopefully the message gets across and they leave the game be. Our priority is to preserve the game's integrity in the months leading up to the end-of-service, so that you guys can continue enjoying the game without disruption.
This patch primarily exists to fix the exploits that they've been abusing to cause the crashes, but since it wouldn't be much fun for you guys to download a patch that didn't have any new content, I've also thrown in some other stuff with the brief amount of time I had. I hope this helps to tide you over for a bit while you wait for 2.8!
EDIT: A new patch has been released! This should fix most of the prevalent issues that I've seen. Thanks for your patience, guys! Here's the changelog for v2.7.4b:
Added Susie's updated Light World appearance from Chapter 2 (visible eyes) as a costume.
Added an Ambyu-Lance costume for the Hathy vessel.
Added a Jigsaw Joe costume for the Jigsawry vessel.
Fixed a bug where having 120+ minutes on a save file wouldn't let you bypass the mobile verification system.
Fixed a bug where Susie's new costumes didn't have the correct text sound play in local chat.
Fixed a bug where you could open local chat and change your costume at the same time for unintended effects.
Fixed a bug where you could change your costume during a room transition for unintended effects.
Fixed a bug where the new costumes weren't available for partners.
Fixed a bug where received direct messages wouldn't display on-screen.
Here's the changelog for v2.7.4:
Implemented additional security measures to prevent crashes.
Updated the verification system for the mobile version to allow players who had more than 2 hours (120 minutes) on a pre-existing save file to bypass verification.
Added a Rudinn Ranger costume for the Rudinn vessel.
Added a Virovirokun costume for the Rudinn vessel.
Added a Head Hathy costume for the Hathy vessel.
Added Napstablook's Deltarune form as a costume.
Added Susie's updated Dark World appearance from Chapter 2 (visible eyes) as a costume.
Added poses to the Noelle vessel.
Decreased the spare requirements for befriending enemies across all areas, to make the process a bit faster.
Increased the effects of ACTs for enemies in Waterfall and beyond, reducing the amount of mandatory turns required to spare them.
Buffed MissingNo's ATK and DEF stats by a small amount.
Changed MissingNo's Check to give a hint on which of their ACTs should be used first.
Tweaked some of the daily quests so that their maximum requirements are a bit lower.
Tweaked one of Tsunderplane's attacks to make it a bit easier to dodge.
Fixed a bug where the click sound when the lasers activate in the CORE would play louder than intended.
Fixed a typo where Ink!Sans' P-ACTION text said "enemey" instead of "enemy".
Fixed a typo where one of Rudinn's ACTs would say "They afraid" instead of "They're afraid".
Upgraded to the latest version of GMServer.
I know this might seem like a small patch, but as I said, this is mainly just to bolster up the game's stability until v2.8.0. Hopefully the new costumes and quality-of-life improvements make the patch a bit more worthwhile for you, though!
Speaking of v2.8.0, if you're curious about how it's doing, it has been progressing very well! I'm about 2/3 done with writing the next major progress report, which will have some juicy information about what you can expect to see in the next update. I can't wait to show you what we're cookin'!
Welp, that's about it for this devlog. Thanks for reading, and as always, stay determined!
