Difficulties with 0.2.0

Hey, all. As I’ve mentioned before, 0.2.0 is near completion. However, some issues regarding the game’s performance have risen since I’ve started working on it. For some reason, there is a delay when pressing a button other than move and jump. In addition to this issue, GameMaker itself is not working as well as it was and takes a very long time to boot up the game, if at all. But wait, there’s more. As explained in the previous devlog titled “Expectations for 0.2.0”, you may have noticed a couple of things. First, the post was edited to remove a few features for 0.2.0, notably improved sound mixing. I wanted something else in its place, so I updated the hub room. Everything spiraled downhill from there. The second thing you may have noticed is that I keep pushing the release window. This is because February is a busy month for me. Pile that on top of other important matters, and now I have next to no time to work on the game.

Now here comes the big letdown.

For all of the reasons explained above, I am putting Palette Swapper on an indefinite hiatus. This is not to say that the game is canceled, far from it. In fact, I was thinking about porting it to Android. I just don’t want to have a set release date that keeps changing and possibly disappointing people when it gets pushed further and further behind. So as of now, version 0.2.0 has no release window, and it will release when it does. In the meantime, I’ll do what I can when I can, and hopefully, this is okay with everyone.
