Back in 2021 it was announced that the Story Mode of DONTFORGET will be built on DELTAENGINE and the game summary implies that brand new Dark Worlds will be involved in the story. Though it's been 4 years, Ricky has implied that Dark Worlds are still a thing.

But in 2021 it was assumed that Story Mode would take place on Surface, while Ricky's recent description clearly says it takes place in Underground after Alphys Ending.

So why Dark Fountains would appear in the Underground? DONTFORGET was a Gaster-centered fan-game since the beginning. In Discord it was stated that Gaster will not have much revelation until DELTARUNE Chapters 6-7, but he would still play a key role in DF.

So, "Alphys Ending", huh? That means Ruins, Snowdin and Waterfall are dead places, excluding the friendly NPCs. The only key characters that still alive are Alphys and Sans, as well as the whole Blook family. Alphys has probably found the archive of her predeccessor W. D. Gaster, including Entry 17, which describes the result of creating a Dark Fountain.

The story is split in four chapters. In DELTARUNE Chapter 4 it's revealed that dead monsters' dust that falls in Dark World, revives them as a Darkner. Does that mean that Alphys used Gaster's method to resurrect the population? She can also use both brand-new Darkners and resurrected Lightners as a fighting force to stop humans!

(Bonus: The description says that DF takes place 10 years after the events of UT, and Harlow is the ninth human, meaning no more SOULs were taken. Could the six humans' bodies be brought back to life from the coffins in Dark World?)

But who are Harlow's "unlikely allies"? After 2019 scenario was scrapped, Chara and Asriel were no longer Harlow's siblings. There's still some non-canonical promo images depicting Harlow along with Dreemurr kids, but Ricky has stated that Chara will play a key role in Story Mode.

But Chara is dead! How can they be involved in the story?

As we know from UNDERTALE, Toriel has buried Chara's corpse in the Ruins. It is unclear if Frisk killed or spared Flowey before DF Story Mode.

It wouldn't be surprising for me if Chara and Asriel will ressurrect as Darkners and will indeed be Harlow's companions!

But hey, that's just a theory. A FANGAME THEORY!
