I actually think it could bring more users to the site if channels mirror announcements with links, etc. Creators could plug their posts too. People are more likely to join a discord link than a cold invite to a social media site they can't see posts until they sign up. The the discord could provide them a taste to entice them.
Discord also has streaming capabilities which could sorta replace firesides without the burden costs. I have not used this feature yet but maybe someone else can elaborate?
Anyways, just a random thought I had from not being able to sleep.
