Elevators, speed boosts and a new enemy

Hi everyone!

I don’t have a lot of time to write these so I’m going to cut straight to the new stuff. First off, speed boosts!

Speed boosts makes you run faster than usual for a short period of time. Useful if you need to cross a great chasm or if you need to reach the level exit in time. Second thing I’ve been working on, elevators!

I’ve added some basic tools into the leveleditor to allow me to control the elevators behaviour to, for example, have them move up and down constantly, make them return to a specific height or, like in the gif above, have the elevator stop at two different heights. And yes, the elevators can crush you. The third thing I’ve added is a new enemy type, the Cage!

Sadly the gif doesn’t really show off this enemy properly but it conveys the basics well enough. It shares a lot of similarities with the Eyes only difference being that it shoots a spread of bullets that disappear after a short duartion rather than shooting bullets one at a time more frequently.

I’ve added and tweaked a lot of other smaller things too like the hitdetection, some of the sprite work, pickups now glow, increased performance, made everything look a bit sharper and the list goes on.

lastly before I end this, I’ll probably(but no promises) start working on some sort of gameplay trailer after this so stay tuned for that.

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.
