Evilsmurfs 6 Deluxe: Quick update & future plans


Hey all!

It's been half a year of silence! My apologies to those following my work, I've been kept fairly busy with college and life in general. Nevertheless, I planned for this and have balanced work on my projects alongside school work.

So, where does that put Evilsmurfs 6: Deluxe?
Fairly well actually! The all new Chapter 2.5 remains in development after a brief hiatus, and significant progress has been made in the last few months. As most of the core gameplay elements are complete, work has now shifted into designing the levels, cutscenes, and all the other fun stuff that makes a game a game!

This is an effect I've been dreaming of using for a while now, and the new chapter was a perfect fit for it! (fun fact: Chapter 2.5's spritework and background colour palette was based on what I originally envisioned for Evilsmurfs 6 in 2016, and the clouds were based on similar clouds I witnessed on a spring day earlier that year!)

So with that out of the way, you might be wondering - when will the next update be? And what will releases look like in the future?

I'm aiming on releasing the next update featuring Chapter 2.5 sometime in the new year. Ideally, I'd release it by the end of the year but it's a pipe dream at this point. This update will also include several fixes and improvements, such as some missing visual flourish (or was it fish?) for Chapter 2.

Chapter 3 onwards will likely release at a quicker rate, as these chapters already have a framework to build from. When the main campaign is finished, a full build featuring it will be released. From there, work will begin on The Hunt for Smurfblum and Ergatof side stories. After those release, updates will consist of polish, potential fixes, and any bonus features.

I'm hoping to be more vocal here in the coming months, but if I'm not you probably know why! College work can pile up, after all!
