ROLL UP! ROLL UP! The carnivals coming to your home town. Read our wonderful brochure to learn about what your instore for.
Introduction
So what is Midnight Haze? Good question; stop interrupting me. Stop me if this sounds familiar. You play as a nightguard, tasked with performing odd jobs at a run-down carnival only to discover you got more than you bargained for. A combination of the classic mascot horror flavours however with my own creative spin on it.
For one, the entire game uses a 16-bit pixel art style on a 2D surface. This creates a survival style gameplay as you dodge and weave foes to survive the night. In addition this game is 100% cheap jumpscare free.
Gameplay
The game loop focus around *gasp* a night survival system. Balance your tasks with avoiding a variety of monsters. Make sure to prepare for the worst - the carnival skims on it's facility budgets.
This task-based system encourages free-roam and a dodge-and-weave gameplay style which will pose a interesting challenge.
Story
As if I'm going to spoil that in a post. The idea is you work the graveyard shift at a rundown carnival - where you complete odd-jobs to keep the funfair in ship-shape (boat not included).
As for the rest of it - guess you'll have to play the game for yourself :). However you can trust me when I say it's not heading in any direction you could possibly dream up.
Release date?
I can't guarantee a release window, so I will not give an imaginary date.
However I can tell you the current state of the game. The main loop of gameplay is fully functional and complete and so all I need to do is build upon this idea for future nights as well as add the necessary bonus content.
I will aim for the release of the demo when two nights of gameplay are complete.
Talk soon :)
