He’s been placed into a 6–12 month program where he’s supposed to “rehabilitate” himself. If he completes it, the charges get dropped. If he doesn’t, the trial continues.
This comes after serious allegations were reported involving the sexual assault of two disabled girls. The accusations are extremely disturbing, and many people expected much harsher consequences.
Instead, it appears he has been given the opportunity to complete a program; if he completes the program, the charges will be dropped. To a lot of people, this is facing little to no real repercussions for something this serious.
Situations like this are why so many question how the justice system handles cases involving vulnerable victims.
