Five Nights at Nutty's: Rebooted - Announcement and Q&A

Happy April Fools! To continue tradition with previous years, today I have a brand new project to announce: A complete reboot of Five Nights at Nutty's, with brand new gameplay, characters and lore. I can imagine this is going to raise a lot of questions, so I'll answer the ones I assume I'm going to get.


  • Is this your top secret project?

No, FNAN:R isn't what I was referring to back in February 2019.

  • I thought you said you were done with FNAN, and wouldn't be remaking FNAN 1. What's up with that?

Progress on the top secret project has been slow recently for reasons I'm not gonna get into just yet. A couple weeks ago, one of the team members said "Hey I wanna do a FNAN remake, do you think that'd be cool?" and I decided "You know what, I'll be happy to do a FNAN remake as long as I'm not the one picking up most of the slack, like with FNAN 2", and I think over time that's slowly transitioned to me picking up most of the slack anyhow, but...meh, whatever. I'm already working on the game, it's too late now.

  • Is this gonna replace the original FNAN in terms of lore?

Nope, FNAN 2 is still specifically canon to FNAN 1. This has the subtitle of Rebooted for a reason. Imagine caring about FNAN lore though lol

  • How far into development is this game?

...we barely have anything. We have two models, a third in the works, and plenty of ideas for gameplay and story, but other than that, we have nothing.

  • Wait, then why the hell are you announcing this so early? What happened to "Don't announce until 100% complete?"

I'm treating this project differently. Instead of keeping everything a secret, I'm gonna do the exact opposite here, I am going to be very open about the development of this game. There'll still be secrets and surprises of course, but I'm mainly planning on sharing plans, ideas and development publicly. Why? Well, to be honest, I wanna be able to work on something and show results. It's been pretty hard keeping the top secret project top secret for so long, it makes me feel like I've done nothing ever since FNAN 2. So I think it'll be helpful for me to tell everyone what I'm doing with this game. And anyone who cares about spoilers for FNAN:R is a big old silly billy, so that's another reason.

  • Alright, so how will you do that?

Still debating that to be honest. I wanted do it in a channel on Phisnom's Discord server but thinking about it now that might be too exclusive. I'll probably just make a new Discord server for this. I guess I already did, as I made a server to gather up ideas for the game from plenty of people, so maybe I'll just convert that into a full fledged FNAN:R server. Game page will probably be a lot less filled with updates though, could you imagine all the devlogs? That'd suck. Ooh, maybe I'll make a Twitter for updates, that could be fun!

  • Are you worried about cancellation due to announcing it so early?

Not really. It's still very possible, of course, but at least if it does it won't mean months/years of waiting in darkness will have all been for nothing. Plus let's be frank, would anyone really get too upset over a FNAN remake being cancelled? ...I mean maybe this one, it does look pretty cool so far, but meh.

  • Who's working on the game so far?

Honestly it's just kinda whoever feels like contributing, and if it's good, it's used. The main people so far are MrNobody1987 for modelling, Doctor Amadeus Raven for concept art, Jenny for music, LegalMeme for reprising as the voice of Donald Acker and Marp for reprising as the voice of Thomas Ford. I'll be doing the programming as well as video editing, audio editing and general directing.

  • I want to help out. How can I do that?

Right now, probably just leave some feedback in the comments, mainly about how to go forward with sharing info on this game. After that though, I dunno, just leave ideas or contributions in said place for sharing info. There'll probably be plenty of times where I ask "ay yo can anyone help out with this one thing" so those'll probably be your best bet.

  • If you're being so public about it then why is the teaser trailer so dark and vague?

Mainly because we're still trying to figure out what this game is, and it's possible our current plans will be different by the end of development. So something that's vague but gets the point across seemed like the best route to go. And also because it looks cool. You got a problem with things that look cool, buster?


Well, this should be interesting. This could either be a miraculous rebirth, or a shameful cancellation. Let's see where this project goes, you and me, shall we?
