I hope everyone's holidays went well. This patch is addressing some of the more awkward aspects of the demo, making it more approachable to players with solutions that will work through the rest of the game's development.
Full Patch Notes
When a new animatronic is activated, the player is now given an explicit, dismissible text description of how that character works.
Originally I wanted players to need to deduce how to defend themselves, like in the older FNAF games. This has proven mostly serve as a point of frustration on players parts, creating a difficulty barrier. After looking at other fangames (specifically Playtime With Percy) I found that informing the player clearly leads to a lot more fun overall.
Forgotten Freddy now sings in the dance room, next to the office.
Players were consistently confused by Forgotten Freddy, mistaking his distance for a lack of physical threat. I plan to adjust his new position a bit more in the future, but his new proximity when singing should help players identify him as an active, demanding threat.
Patchwork Freddy and Patchwork Bonnie have now properly taken the stage.
Awesome models done by JeffTheHampster. Thank you so much!
Lulla now sticks out more to players in her starting location.
The first time finding Lulla has always been hard on new players, but not after that. This seems to have been an issue with her initial positions framing which, while ominous, made her seem like an actual prop without showing her silhouette. I will watch to see how effective this change has proven.
Camera Rotation controls now scale properly to all display sizes.
There used to be minor issues on 1K monitors and large issues on lower resolutions. It now scales to display size.
Daytime Dialogue GUI has been fully replaced.
Design work done by BriaKitten, who did a fantastic job.
Main Menu music now silences when doing a sound test.
Should now properly prevent your cursor from leaving the game window without alt-tabbing first.
Minor lighting optimizations.
Fixed a visual glitch with Picasso on lower graphics settings.
Click and drag no longer shows your desktop cursor.
Reduced the size of the Raise Camera button to what it was pre-demo.
The player originally had the ability to use the mask without the camera, but this proved extremely confusing to new players as it didn't protect against anyone in the first two nights except Bonnie. It will be given back on Night 3.
Quincy now rotates while walking.
Lost Remnant's hallucination of The Revenant in the pantry now has a lifespan of 15 seconds.
This prevents a rare edge case scenario in which a player would be unable to banish the hallucination when out of flashlight power.
Chica and Freddy are now much more likely to attack when their audio cues are stacked. This should help cut down on long durations of too much noise.
All animatronic wakeup schedules have been adjusted.
Removed older, less effective tutorial text.
End of night music will no longer start or carry on after death.
Adjusted the balance of some characters who only appear on the work in progress custom night.
Sorry it took so long with the crazy holidays (among other stuff going on). With this patch, work officially begins on the rest of the game. My current goal is to finish the remaining nights in time for the release of the FNAF 2 movie in October.
Until then, have a good year!
