So, you just got a pretty nasty review of your game. Saying it's a disaster and it shouldn't have been uploaded. How do you deal with this? Well, first off you have to remember:
Everyone IS entitled to their own opinions, ideas, and preferences. It's what makes us human after all! And naturally, people will disagree sometimes.
So, how do you respond, if at all?
Depends. Are they critizing the gameplay? Genre choice? Story? Personally there was one very nasty review of the demo for Lucid I received in private DMs saying that the only good part of the game was the music. They asked why I made certain parts custom and others RTP and I responded with this:
"thanks for playing! While I disagree with almost everything here I won't write a essay on personal preferences and constructive criticism. I thank you for playing and have a good one!"
Allow me to go into more detail:
"Why are certain parts custom and others RTP?"
Creative choice.
"The combat is dry and is just attacking enemies and using spells"
Boo who. Cry me a river. Nothing wrong with keeping combat simple. I don't wanna read a collage thesis to attack a monster.
(won't name the user, of course. I have some respect. also sorry for getting off track)
All in all, I don't know what I taught here except:
If people don't like the game, that's their problem and they can just not play it.
Of course, they might have real criticisms such as...
The game not being tested properly,
Spelling errors,
And objectively bad maps (the crime of every new rm developer.)
In short: It depends.
