I wish I had drawing to commemorate this special occasion, but this came up so fast I didn't have time for it. Nor did I realized that today was the 30th Anniversary of DKC. I was busy on and off with other stuff.
But I do have something to say about it. DKC, was my first Donkey Kong game. Seeing the 3D models and 3D backgrounds in this game was very cool. It blew my mind how they managed to make these 3D models and convert them into sprites on the Super Nintendo.
Sure, it looks a bit dated, but that's what gives that charm. I remember playing this game with my older sister. We would play co-op. Riding the animal buddies were fun. I like both DK and Diddy. I enjoyed playing Diddy because he's faster, but of course, sometimes, I had to switch to DK to handle bigger enemies.
So many memorable moments in this game. The beginning of the game, where you watch Cranky play the classic DK theme song, only to get knocked off with a boombox by DK and he's just jamming. Cranky Kong just shaking his cane at him.
The music was so good. It just helps to immerse you into this world of Donkey Kong. A few of my favorite music tracks:
~ DKC theme song.
~ Aquatic Ambiance (so peaceful and serene)
~ Gang-Plank Galleon
~ Simian Segue (hubworld music)
Was this my favorite DKC game? No, that honor goes to DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest. I had the most memories with that game since I played that the most. I only played DKC3 once with one of my cousins. Didn't have much memories with that.
Overall, I'm glad that I got to play the original DKC trilogy. I still love the DKC series and its other games. DKC Returns was great to see the series come back and it was a great game to play. Tropical Freeze was a bigger improvement over Returns. There is one thing that I would love to see is for King K. Rool to return to a future game. He is DK's main nemesis after all. I want him to have prominence again. I was so happy that got into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If King K. Rool ever returns, I want him to return in a big way that will surprise fans and introduce new fans to King K. Rool and his army of Kremlings.
