This is the screenshot of the storage of my potato laptop. I know that that's not a lot of storage but trust me coming from 256gb to a 500gb stick it's night and day. I'm showing this because I've been struggling to replace the old nvme with this new one for about 2 months now and I finally got it to work! It only took around 10 minutes too. I only have one nvme slot so I went ahead and bought a 500gb samsung 970 evo that should be enough for the laptop since I use a another flash stick for my games. What I didn't know was that I needed to put an os into the new nvme and without knowing anything I factory reset the laptop AND forgot to turn sync on my opera gx account r.i.p old bookmarks :( so when I started the laptop up with the new nvme installed you can guess how bad that was. One month later I did some research and bought an nvme enclosure. The only problem was when I did my research I didn't know that the exact cloning tool I was using needed to be purchased to be used (you can guess the two week frantic search for a free but reliable clone software). Yesterday I watched a video that really helped me out so shout out to "Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to" on youtube because this guy was a life saver. So for once the whole cloning process took about 4 minutes which is fast for my potato tbh. I had to shut down the laptop. Then the whole taking the laptop apart and inserting the new nvme then putting the laptop back together and putting the screws back in took about 3 minutes. Then the moment came where I held my breath when I turned the laptop back on. I waited. The boot time was quick (Very suprising). The Welcome screen appeared. I logged in. I waited. I could then take a sigh of relief, my potato was now an upgraded potato that successfully transfered the data. Nothing was lost this time! I checked the storage immedietly "56.0gb used -- 464gb free" You Lassies have no clue how happy I am. All of the other failed upgrade attempts to this potato are nothing compared to not seeing low disk space because I have windows + steam and maybe like 3 things that took up space. Right on New Year's Eve too!
Thank you for reading this
I know that this was long but I had to post something about my tiny but very important victory. Here's a cake for reading the whole thing --->🎂(that's no lie)
