Tenkijo Devlog No. 1 ~ The first ever official major devlog of Tenkijo!
In the day of UT's 6th anniversary, the first-ever official Tenkijo major devlog is announced! I, CaraPrincess, the crafter of fantasies and creator of Tenkijo, shall reveal some of the most important bits about this game's progress!
Number 1: Progress
It went pretty slow right now due to my mom just jam me to "serious schooling" after being "review bombed" by my teachers due to my Koishiness. I spent most of my time thinking up ideas to polish Tenkijo's story and gameplay, as well as the design of each area of the game. So far, I'm planning the demo to contain the prelude of the story of Act 1 + plus the interactive tutorial of the game, which consists of a simple puzzle, and a faux battle against a ragdoll dummy of Yukimi that she created to teach the player the basics of "survival" in The World. Alright, since this is the first Act of the game, then we should introduce its gameplay mechanics to players of this game. If you play UT or DR, then you could get something out of the interactive tutorial for Act 1 (and the whole Tenkijo series) (Yeah, I based off that tutorial thing from Toriel from UT (in case of you want to know)). I would say currently the demo is only about 5% finished (due to I don't have time to do more stuff and I'm easily distracted by making music covers), but since polishing could take way more time, then I would say it is only about 3%. (Sorry lads.) But I hope that on next year's March or my next birthday, I can finish the demo in time.
Number 2: What I'm going to implement in the game
If you want to hear more tunes from retro games, then I would like to announce that I just get some new instrument swatches and these swatches includes samples from some GBA games, some more SNES games, and a few NES games. I also have a plethora of currently unused SNES soundfonts that I got earlier, and I might use them in conjuction with the newly-obtained samples. Say goodbye to the thought that I'm gonna use the PC-98 soundfont for the entirety of this game's OST, now a sizeable amount of soundfonts are going to be used in the game's music!
Also, I'm going to start designing the puzzles for the Catacombs starting from today. To me, the Catacombs is almost complete (including the layout, the design of the area, midboss and boss of the area), but the only thing missing is the puzzles and environmental hazards that the player is going to face in the area. I'm a bit dull in thinking up puzzles and challenges for a game because I spent a long time trying to replicate Touhou-styled shooter games (which have no puzzles) with Pixel Game Maker, so thinking up puzzles for a game is pretty difficult for me. But still, I will try my best on creating some puzzles and environmental hazards for the Catacombs!
Number 3: Conclusion
Since the game is still in a very beta stage and many of its intended features are yet to be added, there's not much to say in this devlog.
But I hope that the development of the game will be sped up and I will focus more on making this game after today!
Stay safe and may God bless you! And plus, happy 6th anniversary to UT!
