After the scientists grabbed samples of the crystals they went and tested on them, trying different substances on them in different temperatures

They found out that these things could infect you through open wounds and that it could grow faster on hotter conditions, meanwhile on cold conditions nothing really happened unless it was too cold

While these slow dumbasses were busy experimenting on this hazard one of them decided that it would be an AWSOME idea to try and expose one of the shards to fire to se how it'll react!! (It was a university student who was put there with the sole purpose of watching how scientists work..)

Let's just say.. the shard kind of uhm.. it grew twenty times it's size and impaled the dude's hand along with the floor- and since he couldn't get it out of the fire it just kept multiplying in size and expanding around the place- he dude got infected and soon enough was the first victim of this virus thingy...

Now.. To the great hero of Greenhills! SONIC!!

Tails got mauled and infected and Knuckles and Amy are nowhere to be seen.. everyone is running and panicking and Sonic can do nothing but watch as chaos covers the entire town..! D:

Extra/bonus lore piece (quite important ig)

On Shadow's post the question about why hasn't he done anything worse to himself and how is he somehow still 'sane' pops there.. you said it was because of Sonic..

Errmm.. I guess I should start with the fact that they kind of got bored of this 'rivalry' thingy and grew out of it (wow.. how mature-)

I can't say they were 'that' close even after that.. but at least if they were put on a room together they wouldn't fight like two immature rabid dogs or anything

This is also why the flame pendant exists! A gift from Shadow to him! (Rouge TOTALLY did NOT forced him to gift him something for his bday-)

(I don't want to expose much here anymore but I promised yall I would tell the whole thing-),

after the events of the outbrake and their situation.. they both had absolutely NO ONE to rely on... Rouge, tails and Omega were dead and Knuckles and Amy poofed out of existence with no trace.. forcing both to rely on eachother to survive and giving Shadow some pretty bad attachment issues due to his re-opened trauma..

Sonic, being the sunshine character he is and how pretty traumatized he was as well didn't really mind this new 'attachment'.. I'd even say it took him a while for him to acknowledge that it was actually some BAD attachment issues.. I mean who tf can blame Shadow? Leave em alone!! >:(
