This is a story told by a man named Evan Brown, who committed suicide not long after this conversation, this is what the therapist recorded. Unauthorized inspection will result in Termination.

Evan: "My friend sent me an old Ristar Cartridge, said it was: "Useless to him now." so I got my dusty Sega Genesis from the attic, once I booted it up, everything looked fine, it looked a tad dark and pale but I thought that was just my TV, or my head messing with me. Whichever it was, I started a game, for some reason there was no mode selection, I just brushed it off and thought that this might've been an older version or something. Nevertheless, I started the game, Planet Flora, it looked almost the same, but the intro was static, strange, as usually it slides across the stage, but once again, I brushed it off thinking it was an older version. Then the game began, almost immediately, I realized Ristar don't have a mouth, and his energetic expression was just blank, staring off into the distance, but I kept playing, the first level went relatively smoothly and I started to forget about whatever that was, but then, the first boss."

Therapist: "Who was the first boss?"

Evan: "Riho, I think that's his name anyways, the fight began normally but then when Riho was knocked of the Elder, Ristar attacked, I wasn't in control anymore, I saw Riho's dead body, I stood there for a good minute trying to understand what was happening, then the Game Over screen flashed before me, and I returned to the start of the level, however, rather than Ristar being pale and having a blank expression, he looked exactly like his normal sprite, but with a more scared and sad expression, I did the level again, and got to Riho, who was already dead, the Elder standing in the background like a statue, lifeless. Once I got close to Riho it showed the Score Screen, with Ristar flying away with the same scared expression, almost as if he is running from something. Rather than taking me to Planet Undertow, it took me somewhere else, simply called "Planet." All the textures were corrupted, but Ristar wasn't a corrupted texture, infact he had changed back to his normal sprite. I kept walking, confused, scared, and most of all, curious, I had to know what was happening, even if it was stupid to some, I had to know. So I kept walking on the corrupted textures for what felt like and probably was hours, no enemies, no music, nothing, eventually though, I saw a black silhouette, similar to Ristar but different it was staring off into the distance endless, the moment I touched it, I was sent back to the Title Cutscene but the Text had changed."

"Therapist: What did it say?"

Evan: "Don't you understand?"

Evan: "You don't do you?"

Evan: "Stop."

Evan: "Then the game shut itself down, I managed to get it to work again, but looking back I wish I didn't, once I did start the game again, there was no title screen, it just went straight to "Planet" again. The Ristar I was playing as was jet black, it had eyes, all over itself, it wouldn't move it wouldn't do anything, just stand there, watching me, he still is."

Therapist: "Evan there's no one else here he can't be watching you..."

The therapy session ended not long after, Evan returned to his house, and ended his own life.
