Today I had a careers meeting at school where a guy came in and talked to me 1 on 1 abt what careers I might like to do once I leave secondary school.
Halfway through my fourth lesson a member of the school staff came to take me to the careers meeting.
I went into a room and sat down at a table with the guy and then we started talking.
First he asked me to sort some cards with different types of jobs into 2 piles. One pile was jobs that I definitely wouldn't want to do and the second pile was jobs I at least might want to do.
He told me that chances are my pile with jobs that I might want to do would be a lot smaller then the pile with jobs that I wouldn't want to do but in my case it was the opposite so I confused the guy when he looked at them.
Next I said a bit abt why I thought I would be interested in the types of jobs that I said I at least might like to do.
Then he asked me if there's any jobs that really stuck out to me.
I said something to do with history bc its my fav subject and video games bc I play them all the time.
My mum told me that its good if u can turn ur hobby into a job bc then t doesn't feel like ur working. She likes talking and socialising with people so she has a job in HR.
He then told me abt the different options I have once I leave secondary, staying at my school for another year to learn life skills, A-levels, college or an apprenticeship.
I told him that my dad has said about that it would be good for me to get an apprenticeship because u get work experience and a qualification at the same time. My dad would have gotten an apprenticeship himself if he could go back in time.
He said that he thinks I could get an apprenticeship when I leave secondary school because I had a wide range of possible jobs and that I'm good at talking with people.
Then it was time for lunch so I left.
I'm gonna see him a ton more times in the future so at least I will have a bit of an idea of what I could do once I leave school.
