Today I had a sch music lesson.
This term we have to change a song like a bbc live lounge performance. I've never heard of it before this topic but basically a musician comes onto the show and takes an existing song and changes it a bit and then they perform it.
The song my class is doing is Lithium by Nirvana which was voted by the class.
The music teacher moaned at the class the whole time so that was annoying.
People picked instruments to play, The kid who suggested Lithium picked a guitar, I picked the drums bc Ik how to play them and the 5 other people picked keyboards. (There's small classes at my sch and a couple of people weren't in.
The music teacher asked me if I was sure that I wanted to pick the drums bc I wasn't gonna play Lithium exactly like it goes in the song since we are making our own version of the song.
She was saying in a way like she was trying is discourage me from playing the drums but she didn't say anything like that to the 5 people who all chose keyboards.
I always pick the drums in things where we can pick an instrument bc I can play them and I think she wants me to try other instruments. I picked the guitar once after a lot of pressure from her and I hated it so I'm not gonna take her advice on switching instruments again.
After a while of practising the music teacher complained to us abt how we were were quiet and not talking to each other much.
We were supposed to communicate as a class abt what we could change in the song but people just kept quiet and only talked to the kid who liked Nirvana about their ideas.
It's fair enough bc he suggested the song and he likes Nirvana so he would have a good idea what could sound good or bad in the song.
Then the music teacher put on a bbc live lounge performance of Lithium and told us to say abt the differences in that performance compared to ours.
I said that the performance had multiple vocalists and I disliked it compared to the one person singing it in the original song.
She then asked me how many vocalists we had for our performance and then she said we had none like she was shaming me and it was somehow my fault.
After that the lesson ended and I could get out of that room.
Something I've noticed with a decent amount of teachers at my sch is that they have a bad mood a decent amount of the time and they can take it out on other people a bit.
Moods can be very infectious, you can be like a rain cloud and make people around u miserable or u could be the sun and make people around u happy.
Basically just be positive to make people happier.
