Undertale: Fallen Dreams

I need to come clean about something.

As many of you know, Undertale: Fallen Dreams was my "big project" before FAUXTALE came along. It was much more liked and popular than anything I had made before, and than anything I can make today. However, Fallen Dreams was just a sequence of one procrastination after another. Let me explain.

I started Fallen Dreams in early 2023, and by "started" I mean came up with a very, VERY rough idea of what I wanted it to be. Keep in mind I had just gotten into Undertale at the time, so my knowledge and experience of it was little. However, I was determined (haha) to see this game through to the end.

I started programming shortly after coming up with the idea, made a few sprites, even made a new theme for Flowey, before coming to a roadblock a couple months in: I didn't actually want to spend the time or effort making this game. So what could I do? The simple answer: stall.

I made and posted a few measly sprites, made a few devlogs (containing very small amounts of actual progress), and then came to a realization:

What if, instead of making Fallen Dreams a game, I made it a sprite comic? Sprite comics required much less skill and effort, and could be made to look like I had actual progress on the game! It was a stroke of genius. After this, to continue the sprite comic trend, I ran a character Q&A. The Q&A, however, turned out to be the most successful event yet.

The Q&A ran for a few months before dying down, giving me enough time to make small amounts of game progress. I shared this progress in a short devlog, and it was somewhat well-received, but I still didn't feel like making the game. I eventually just rebooted Fallen Dreams entirely, adding new sprites (no never mind just a new player sprite) and a new story (the same as the old one).

Then, Fallen Dreams went on hiatus.

This led to several small "side projects" meant to keep content on the Fallen Dreams game page while still not working on the project. After this, I reopened the Q&A, and from then on, I never made another progress post again. I answered very few Q&A questions and made mostly joke posts before eventually going on "hiatus" again and moving over to FAUXTALE.

That brings us to today, and I would like to announce, once and for all, that Fallen Dreams has been CANCELED. I never made any progress on it and I never will. But I can promise you this: When I make a song now, it's because I love making music. When I make a sprite now, it's because I love making art. And when I finally release FAUXTALE, it won't disappoint.

Say your goodbyes to Fallen Dreams, everyone. It was fun while it lasted.

(TL;DR, Fallen Dreams is canceled due to my inability to make progress on it)
