In FNaW William Afton has such an interesting backstory of him becoming Springtrap(this backstory is different from what we saw in original FNaF, because FNaW is happening in different universe than FNaF)


so, he became Springtrap after he destroyed animatronics from FNaF 1 and let spirits of children out, they lured him in kitchen when he was in Springbonnie costume, they trapped him in oven and turned it on. After this he merged with that costume. That's how he became melted Springtrap,
