Introducing: Challenges and Cheats!


(tl;dr at the bottom for those who don't wanna read.)

Hi everyone, I am approaching a point in the development where the game is almost finished and there is only some testing and fixes to do now. By now everything I want to add is finalized for the most part, and that means I can be a bit more open with whats going to be in the game.

Compared to the Ultra Custom Night titles, this one has by far the most features of the bunch. While I'll keep most of it a secret for launch, something I do want to post about is something that you'll be able to unlock to push your high score even further: Challenges (and also Cheats to a lesser extent)!

Below this point will be a list of the Challenges you'll be able to unlock through the games shop, which is another new feature compared to the prior titles. You'll earn Faz-Coins just by playing the game which can be used to buy a bunch of stuff. No more Dee-Dee RNG required to unlock characters!

(Aaand I don't care to describe the Cheats since your highscore isn't saved with them enabled anyways.)

Without further a do...here's the challenges!

Flashlight Mode

A thick darkness permeates your office...and your room lights are cut off. The only way to cut through the dark is your trusty flashlight! This mode reduces the visibility of your office to just a flashlight. This includes your cameras (somehow)! This mode will increase your score by x1.5.

Less Oxygen Mode

Ever wanted to make dealing with Yenndo a living nightmare? This mode makes it so that your office can hold far less oxygen in its walls, making your oxygen reduce far quicker! To counterbalance this, your oxygen is restored just as fast. This mode increases your score by x1.25.

As a side note, the way oxygen works in this game has been reworked quite a bit. You get your oxygen back far quicker, however if your oxygen dips below 10%, your screen is completely blacked out. Unlike the base game, increasing your gamma isn't gonna help you now! Also unlike the base game, this can allow certain characters to sneak up on you while you're disorientated.

Longer Nights Mode

Hated how long the nights were in FNAF 1 UCN? Well, this mode brings it right back! Every hour in the game is exactly 1 minute, however this mode makes it 1 minute and 30 seconds instead! This might seem bad for power, however the amount of power you have has been adjusted for the night length. This will increase your score by x1.5.

And finally...

Hyper Mode.

This is the main challenge to look out for. If you thought the base games characters were just a bit too easy to deal with, you can overcharge their circuits and kick things up a notch! This doesn't just make characters far faster than they were before, some characters even have slight mechanic changes to make them harder to deal with! Using this challenge increases your score by x2.

This is the main challenge to look out for in the game, and is what a lot of my balancing has been coming from for the most part. The base cast already has some changes, but this mode just makes things ridiculous.

Applying this mode to Super Golden Freddy, the hardest night of them all, transforms the night into...

Hyper Golden Freddy.

The true max mode of the game. This is the one that I will be balancing the characters after when the game is released, and I at least want this mode to be humanly possible (albeit probably extremely difficult). Think of this kind of like the No-Fan Nightmare mode of the game.

However, there is also the mode that occurs if you decide to turn on every single challenge at the same time and well...

Yea no I don't expect anyone to beat this one, like at all. I didn't think No-Fan Nightmare was possible but I truly mean it when I say this one is probably too extreme. Any rewards for the game will cap at Hyper Golden Freddy, so just know I don't consider that other mode the max mode of the game for now. If it is somehow beatable, then I'll add a proper reward in the future.

Hopefully this gives some insight on one of the bigger changes compared to the others, as well as a hint for those who are anticipating what the max-mode of the game truly is. I'm not aiming really for HGF to be a top challenge, just really really hard (and hopefully fun) enough to satisfy the more experienced. I'll continue to post when I can before the release of the game. More posts to come before release (maybe)!
