I started making it when I was only 5 years old, that’s when I came up with the idea. I used my mom as a play tester and would draw out the levels on a whiteboard and have her try to beat them. The game was simpler back then, but it still had the same objective, it also had enemies. I don’t really remember how I got the idea for this game, I think it was from Indiana Jones. I used to watch my older cousin (who was 10 years older than me) and my dad play Indiana Jones.
I took a break from the game from the ages of 7 to 11. At 11 I started designing levels again and creating more game objects. I then got a whiteboard for my birthday and drew the levels on the whiteboard.
At 13 my mom hired a programming teacher for me and my sister. After creating two simple games of his choice with us, he asked us to chose a game we wanted to make. I chose that game, which I called “Escape From Jail”. This was the first time I turned my game into a video game. At 16 I stopped having classes with him because we moved somewhere else.
When I was in high school I took a computer science course. I also programmed the game on my own using Java. I got very close to finishing it, but didn’t.
In college I started to program in using C++, but I was kind of busy with my classes so I abandoned that project.
Near the beginnings of this year I wanted to make that concept into a game again. I was looking for a software that makes it easy to create games. I found Game Maker Studio and starting near the end of April, 2017 I began to make my game again. I finished it on November 17th, 2017.
