March & April Update: Nearing Completion of Night Segments, Asset Improvements, and 6th Anniversary (OUTDATED)

Hey, it's been a bit since a proper monthly update. March was a pretty busy month in terms of life itself, so I needed to prioritize a bit more to my life than the game. This month was somewhat similar, I'll touch upon it in a moment, but there's quite a bit to talk about this update, so let me cut to the chase.

Life Update

Normally I don't really bring up much of my personal life with projects like these, as for the most part, it is pretty minuscule to actual development, however, I feel it is important I do address this. At around 1AM on Saturday, April 22nd, I officially went through a breakup with a friend of mine which we dated for close to 3 years. This occurred during a vacation I had taken over to Florida, which was mixed, to say the least. Although I won't touch too much on it, as it's not really necessary for what I'm trying to say with this update, the lesson to be learned during this trip was that I am really cared for by my two friends who I love dearly. I want to take a moment and thank them for all they did for me during the trip, they were there with me when I had that breakup, and they helped me a lot through Saturday. None of you know them, so I won't name them just because of general privacy but just know if I am silent, it's likely because these two mean a lot to me right now, and if by chance one of these two people is reading this, you know very well I appreciated you guys during that rough day.

Progress Update

Regarding progress, over the past two months, the office is reaching really close to having most of the stuff needed for it completed. Other than a few things, most of it is in place and working. Very likely that in the future some of the beta testers will be receiving early office prototypes to test out and see how they respond to the movement controls. I'll touch upon these once we share some gameplay in the coming months, but with how things have run with the office, it works pretty well.

Asset Improvements

Over the past few months since I last posted, I've been steadily going back through the rooms and polishing them more to help them look as good as possible. One room that has recently seen updates is the door room. The many additions I have been making on it have been helping it allow for more colour to pop out easier, as well with helping it not look as empty.

6th Anniversary

As the header suggests, Tyler's Diner as a series has recently turned 6 as of April 17th, 2023. The original game for its time was a fun little project I made with a person known at the time as mrchickenman2. He's disappeared for years, and I'm not really on the best terms with him anymore. As much as I think about reposting it here sometimes, I feel sharing something that most of the stuff made in it was made by someone else is kinda scummy, so its very likely not gonna happen. One thing I will share however to celebrate this anniversary is the updated Starman design made very recently.

Although very similar to the original one showcased last year, this version updated the proportions of the character, and delve more into the side of the uncanny valley. Considering the ideas in mind for his character in the game, he'll very likely have some of the most creepiest assets ingame, and I can't wait to showcase them later down the line.

Speaking on the topic of anniversaries, last month marked the 8th anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy's 3, although one of the more weaker titles in the franchise, it still brought to the world the infamous Springtrap, and what was not a better way for me to celebrate that back in March by recreating Springtrap in the Tyler's Diner artstyle:

Recreating Springtrap was a pretty daunting challenge for this render, however, I feel the result that came with it was pretty solid, and what else is a better time to post it then now.

And that concludes this monthly update. With where progress is going atm, either next month or June should start seeing some more closer looks at the game itself, and we can't wait to showcase more going from there.
