Month Report # 18

Month Report

For this month I have finally educated myself further and got to contribute nicely to the technical progress in GameMaker. My main goal for this month was finishing the framework of the main menu, the sprites, the interface overlap, etc. Which, I, achieved ( Mostly, at least ), meaning, the main menu has been finished for the time being except for some more intricate things ( Such as the buttons related to the save system and user configuration ) which will most probably be done as soon as I learn how to do them properly. This is how it looks:

The menu. ( It got some lil animation and everythin')

In other hand, the movement system has got some progress as well, but as Meyland, which is the main one working on it, hasn't gotten a lot of time, there are still a good couple things to clear first before it's finished. Either way, while that's being done, I will also keep trying to progress or at least test and learn different things ( Such as the battle system, the conversation system, etc. ).

Sprite Revamping

There has also been a huge remaster to a big lot of the sprites of the game, as a considerable amount of them were getting notably old. Most noticeably Oskar himself has been remastered, but just enough to fit the new style better while still maintaining simplicity and flexibility in design.

Steven. The left one is the new version. He got shorter and older looking. Poor Steven.

image.png

Bailey. Left one is new, again. He has now more cohesive hands. And he looks more red now.

Oskar. You know which side is new. He got a shorter torso and longer legs, and a highly revamped shading as well.

Also

This. Is Seth. ( Not an actual sprite. ( Obviously. ) )

I have remastered a lot more but you get the idea, not huge changes more than just re-adjusting them to fit a bit better into the new style and form more consistency.

Rough Work Percentages ( A.K.A The work that has been done this month divided in percentages, A.K.A these do not symbolize the percentage of completion of anything )

This month's rough work percentages would be:

Main Menu coding: 65%

Character Sprite Revamps: 25%

Interface Designing: 10%

This would be all for today's report, stay tuned for the next one, cya!

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
