Keep in mind that before we start, I'll only be putting games that have an actual playable build on this list. In-dev projects are cool too, but I'd need to experience them by playing them to be truly worth a spot on this list.
1: Undertale Yellow.

The fangame, way back in the day when its demo came out that got me interested in Undertale and Deltarune fangames.
In this game, you play as the 6th fallen human, aka Clover, and go on a massive adventure through new areas in the Underground that weren't in vanilla Undertale. You meet a whole bunch of very lovable characters and, well... Axis (man, I hate that robot, lol). You get to experience a brand new story, which, while not the most perfect, is still really good. I cried when Clover gave up their soul, not gonna lie, lol! And a ton of very fun fights were included and very interesting new gimmicks just like the old soul modes from Undertale. This game made me feel like I was playing through Undertale for the first ever time again and it's really special to me.
10/10 would definitely recommend!!

I mean, come on, who doesn't love this game? The art style, the fights, the storytelling, the music. My God, it's so perfect! This game is truly spectacular! But I'd better keep this review short because I'll sit here and glaze it for hours, lol! Definitely a huge inspiration for a lot of my own projects. Can't wait for the eventual full game.

An underrated Deltarune fangame that takes place in the Kirby universe. Though the fights aren't the most unique and there are a ton of reused assets, the fangame itself is still a treat to play. Kris, Susie, and Noelle all go on an adventure through Dreamland after Susie accidentally creates a Dark World while they were all playing games. They also meet an original character who poses as Ralsei, but later on, you find out this character is the main antagonist. That plot twist was crazy to me. There are a ton of fun references to other cool indie games too, so the game isn't just a huge Kirby reference. It's a very fun, chapter-sized game that you can sit down and enjoy for a couple of hours. I would recommend it. Right now, the team is making a remake of the game called Starrune Supernova, which I'm actually an artist for. I hope you guys enjoy some of the things I contributed to that game when it comes out.

4: Underswap The Reckoning

-
This is a surprise to me because I hate Sans or Dust related fangames, but I love this game. In fact, calling it a "Dusttrust take" is such an insult, as it's so much better and more unique than a Dusttrust take. It's truly a gem with its deep storytelling and lovely music (Culmination Mix A, my beloved!). I actually have the soundtrack of this game playing right now while I write this. Anyway, I just love all the fights with the very unique bullet patterns. And the lab segment where you are dodging all the amalgam's was very fun. I love when the game also turned into a fighting game where you are straight-up 1v1'ing Sans. I'd be going "Ninjagoooo!" when he was tornado'ing like he was using Spinjitzu, lol! Very fun fight, and the difficulty is very fair compared to a lot of other harder fangames. Even the low HP parts in phase 1 of Act 3 are pretty fair. Would definitely recommend.

5: TS!Underswap

This game was bound to make it to the list eventually lol! Everybody in the ut/dr community knows this game even people not in the community may know about this game it's that huge. So far this game only has 2 areas you can go through but the 3rd is on its way. There's something very charming though about everything so far this game has to offer. Quality music, battles, story, and areas. It's not just a character's swap roles fangame it's something more and something special at that. Really truly feels like Toby Fox made this game it's that vanilla feeling. Highly recommend!

6: Deltarune Chapter Rewritten: Scampton The Great

-
The game that single-handedly got me back into the community after so many years. I love this game! The fun and goofy music, the interesting bullet patterns, the amazing protagonist in battle sprites, the different playstyle from normal Deltarune with all the new abilities. For example Charkis is an interesting character with their buff effects. Truly a fun game that can keep you entertained for about a good 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately, though, this game got taken off Gamejolt due to some controversy between some of the creators that I'm not too familiar with, so I can't really share an official game page link like the other projects on this list. Be careful if you are looking for an unofficial archive page because they could have the possibility of having malware inside them.
7: Migs Undertale Green

Another classic gem! I remember when the first demo of this project came out ages ago. The first version was, well, not great. But after a few updates and when the second area came out, the game got way better. In this game, you play as the 5th fallen human, aka Cody. You fall into this mineshaft area where you are met with one of the other main protagonists of the game, Undyne. You and her go through the mines together and even meet a freaking cool turtle guy by the name of Cooper. My God, I love this guy's battle theme so much, lol! After the mines, you go to Snowdin, but a different area than you are used to in vanilla Undertale. There are a good bit of fun and interesting puzzles in this area and a bunch of spooky ghosties. The main bosses of this area are very fun with the unique Orange soul mode they use. Quite a fun game. The sad thing about this game, though, is that the devs are very busy with IRL stuff, so we've been waiting years for another update. I hope one comes eventually and this game doesn't get canceled like a whole bunch of other classic fangames. Definitely recommend!

8: Underfell: One Hell Of A Show

-
Another good, short fangame you can play for about an hour and enjoy. This game comes with two fights: a Mettaton fight and an Alphys fight. Both are very fun, with very nice music and unique bullet patterns. I also adore the cute little Flowey sprite that you see in battle; he is indeed a very helpful fella. I love this one part in the Alphys fight where there's a timer that goes down, so you have to play fast and not stall. What can I say? It's a fun fangame, and it's not too hard, so if you are an average Undertale fangame player, then this is a game for you.

9: Project Spacetime Outertale

By @spacey_432 ![]()

Vanilla Undertale, but in space. The game is very fun if you are tired of playing through Undertale the normal way and want to spice things up. This game comes with a couple of extra goodies like some alternate endings, adding some of the cut things from vanilla Undertale, a ton of fun new areas to explore, and a lot of great remixes of themes. Also, the neutral final boss segment was so beautiful! I love all the 3D effects they achieved in that entire area. And the extra story about the other fallen humans was nice too. The artwork for this game is beautiful too! I love that one scene where you and Napstablook lie down and you just see the most beautiful landscape. How serene. I have not actually played through the genocide route of this game, surprisingly, though, so I haven't seen the entirety of what this game has to offer. I keep saying I will, but it never happens, lol! I'm bad at finishing games, not going to lie. I'll get to it someday. Make sure to check out the creator's new original game called Petrichor they are working on too if you enjoy this game.

10: Deltarune: Chaser

By @Leko ![]()

One of the earliest Deltarune fangames out there. It's been around since Chapter 1, after all. It's a truly fun fangame that comes with one very challenging fight. Not any average Undertale player is going to take this guy out easily. The fight comes with a banger af theme, a variety of cool attacks, and an Orange and Cyan soul mode. You really have to rely on Ralsei's healing to help you through this fight too because you have no items to use, so you've got to play carefully. Losing Ralsei is almost a death wish. Very fun and would definitely recommend!

11: Disbelief Papyrus (Cezar Andrade's take)

By @Cezar37 ![]()

Now this one is a nostalgia trip for me. A pretty hard fight with a bunch of fun attacks, a goofy skeleton, and nostalgic music, not to mention all the fun little easter eggs and achievements you can get too. It's a hard fight, so this might take you one to two hours to beat depending on your skill level, but nonetheless, it is a fun experience.

12: Deltarune: Wilter's Wonderland

By @RazFraz ![]()

This is by far THE BEST fan-made secret boss to EVER EXIST. I love this fangame so much! The banger battle theme, the goofy flower with the funny voice, and the fun bullet patterns. Truly a phenomenal fangame. The pre-boss segment is quite enjoyable too. I also love the chase scene. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to have a fun time. Make sure to also check out Deltarune: Uzumaki, which will include this fight.

13: (Chaos End) Asriel Fight

-
This game is veteran-tier hard, but my god, the music and visuals are insane in this fangame. This game comes with three phases, with the third phase actually being a Frisk fight rather than an Asriel fight. I had to play this game with invincibility on because it was too hard, especially phase 3 with Touhou-freaking Frisk, lol! But this game is still insanely enjoyable, invincibility or not. Keep in mind, though, that the entire game is in Chinese. There is no official English port, so I can't really tell you if the storytelling is good or not, as I do not know Chinese at all. If you are a veteran no-hitter type of player that doesn't care for dialogue, then this game is definitely for you.

14: Deltarune Frisk Battle Birth of Games and Memories

By Fantasy ruin X
-
Another classic Chapter 1 era fangame where you get to fight Frisk from Undertale in Deltarune. The game is very simple and quite repetitive with attacks, but the music and the pure nostalgia make this game worth playing still to this day. I love this adorable little game! There's nothing much else to say about it.

15: Undertale: Otherworld

By @M36Games ![]()

A very short demo-sized game that I think was unfortunately canceled. It's really fun, though, if you have like an hour of free time, as it's not too hard. This game takes place after the events of the pacifist route of Undertale, where another human falls into the underground after most of the monsters have already left. Meet a couple of new faces, like a cat or a cool ghost dude, and enjoy the little fights you get here and there. Quite fun! Unfortunately, as I said, I think this game was canceled as the creator left the UT/DR community to go work on an original game called Andy's Apple Farm. That game was so popular on launch that even the legendary Markiplier played it, so I highly doubt the creator will ever come back.

If I remember correctly from past posts, the current demos that are out for this project are in no way like the current game in development. They are outdated, and it's not fair to judge a project through outdated demos. Still a very cool game, nonetheless, from what I have seen so far. I can't wait for the full game!
