Nestronomus insight, what's next?


Hello everyone! It has been a good while since the last update hasn't been?

I bring some news about the current state of Nestronomus:

As of now, Nestronomus lacks actual content to play for and the steep level of difficulty of the enemies at the beginning means that:

  • You either get lucky with your attacks and level up enough to pretty much one-shot them at some point.

  • You either have a hard time fighting those monsters or correctly level up to fight them.

The next issue I have with the game is that the turn-based combat doesn't feel that... engaging to the player.

That said, I do have plans for the game in the future. The next update will be called Nestronomus Alpha 0.10.0 - The turning point.

Why "Turning point" you might ask? Because it will select the core features of the game and they will be either reworked or removed.


The next update will have the following changes:

  • Better movement performance with the character.

    • The character will also gain the ability to attack in the overworld, though, the turn-based battle system will be removed. More on that in a later post.

  • Removal of statistics, since it made the game way too complex for beginning players.

  • Difficulty, play at your own pace. If you're new to the game, why not start on Easy? Feel like taking a challenge? Start on Hard.

  • Day-night cycle, making the overworld a little bit more alive (let's not forget about the weather!).

  • Inventory rework, making it easier to use and more manageable for the player.

  • And more on the way...

Back in action

Hey! Took a break for work and studies, but I developed up a project called "dark" for an exam.

The project itself is finished for the exam, but got kinda attached. I'll probably keep tinkering with it. It's named "Shadow Touched".

Made some great progress today! Enemies can apply debuffs to the player or they can buff their allies!

Also, the player can now see their current buff and debuff under their character's feet.
