[From Kita Berjuang music video]
Well, seems like Makania Next Top Chef isn't your regular Masterchef-level cooking competition show after all!
From what we knew in the video and some posts from other social medias, the episode basically started like this
After Kareem and Naz become the winner of Makania, they get in a limousine to get to a location which supposedly is the place to receive the champion's gift; three million ringgit. This might be believable at first since there are some occasions when the winners in a certain reality show get their rewards at a different area, but also seems suspicious. Why a different area in the first place? We don't know. But either if it's actually the place with the correct intention, or just some words of the deceiver, we're still not sure. Make your predictions with this one.
Now, not much later in the episode, we found out that it's not only our beloved protagonist duo Kareem and Naz in the limou, there's also the previous winner, AC (again, not Mizal; btw can I make this an "inside joke"?) and Fiona. But they seem different than they used to look when our protagonist duo gets eliminated from Makania. Why? The sneak peek of the second episode, or we can say later in the second episode already have the answer.
We have our showhost, Jimmy Nutrition. And he's possibly the one who caused the supposed winners in the second episode to be different. If you can see in one of the posts in Makania's social media accounts, AC (not Mizal) and Fiona are unconscious with something injected on their neck; the silhouette makes it implicated that Jimmy is the injector. This zombified(?) them, which makes the two an advantage of trapping the winner.
Let's get back to our current episode. Now that we knew the zombified previous winners, then let me ask you something. Do you notice that the thing they attempt to inject at Kareem and Naz is the exact same thing that Jimnutri injected the two with? There's even a pattern print of the needle place, the same print that located at the zombified duo's necks. So let's say that they're not only zombified, but also sort of mind-controlled to help the potential villains (the judges and possibly Jimmy) inject the rest of the contestants with those things.
Now let's move to our judges. I have to rewatch the My Way music video to find the names of them, so here we are: Sasha, the female judge who is a celebrity influencer, Anthony, the monocle-wearing celebrity chef judge, and Gordon, the overweight chef judge. Now in the video, we knew that the judges were watching the whole thing happening inside the limousine, implying that they're already suspicious in the first time watching the fourth episode. And sooner in this video, it turns out that the three judges are aliens in disguise. This might mean Jimmy might be an alien in disguise too, but probably this will be de-confirmed (rejected idea). Why do I come with this theory?
Alright, let's observer their appearance. In this world, having unnatural-coloured hair is uncommon, but not too rare and should not be judged. But we see that Jimmy and the two male judges have the same hair colour, dark green. And the showhost and all three judges wear two specific colours: Green and purple. Coincidence? Probably, but since at this point we found out that the judges are definitely NOT humans, it's getting really suspicious. As we can see in other in real life Malaysian reality show, there's no way Dato' AC (sorry to mention him first, he's my fave) will wear the exact same pallette as the judges in Maharaja Lawak or The Masked Singer, neither did Nabil or Jihan do the same in Gegar Vaganza. Even if hosts do wear the matching outfit (or at least matching colour) with the judges, IT MUST BE A COINCIDENCE or planned to be matching for just one night. But in Makania, Jimmy wearing not only the same colour in general, but ALSO almost have the exact same one in the pallette with the judges, makes it no coincidence, but rather a suspicion. Alright, let's move to the rest.
At one point at the end of the episode, Naz gets out of the limousine, leaving Kareem and the zombified Fiona in there. Which is sad, although I only comment here to write some shrimp-brained theory, not express my feelings towards Naz. Since protagonists are always given plot armour, especially in children's animatied series, this only gives me one suitable theory (unless the armour is Uno reversed of course): Naz tries to catch up with the limousine, and Kareem somehow can keep up fighting and restraining Fiona from the injection. But wait, if you realized, there's a mysterious, pink hijabi woman in the poster of the series. And she didn't appear in any released episode. Which must mean she is a plot device to help Naz, and if possible, reveal the truth of the competition to the said kid protagonist.
[From Makania Music Video, Major Spoilers]
Yes, Jimmy Nutrition is an alien! I knew it! (Why is his true name sounds like a Korean name tho 😨) But why do he only reveal it at the final episode? There's always a correlation between his human disguise and his role as a host.
As we know it, the standard "terms and conditions" of being a good host is being charismatic. And Jimmy— I mean Jimseng is quite of that guy, as he, as a host should be. Although his charisma is used for the worse. In Jimseng's mind, if you're able to be charismatic more than his villainous companions, he should use his human disguise all time, even if the situation is abducting and kidnapping the humans around Makania. And it's quite obvious why Jimseng shows his true alien form in the final. Because it's a battle against our Naz and Mak Sue.
Now to the newest theories!
1) The Mantop People, who are all aliens, are one of the high-ranked people in their planet.
- Why do I come out with this? We already know Jimseng and Shallot's role.
→ Jimseng, disguise as Jimmy, is a captain, seemingly for the army of the planet they're from. Quite why he is good at fighting. This might also corresponds to why he is possibly the one responsible for the injections for the winners as Jimmy, sugarcoating it as "withdrawal from competition" with absurd and nonsensical reason.
→ While for Shallot, disguised as Sasha, she's a princess, probably the highest rank among the Mantop People. Since she's not only from the royalty, but is also the potential heir for the ruler seat in the planet she's from. This is quite reasonable, since she's the lead judge as Sasha, and is quite sinister and suspicious.
→ We don't know about Anthony and Gordon though, also they might also be high ranked since we have half of the villain casts as high-ranks. Probably one of them is an aristocrat, probably an elite, probably administrator, probably more of the possibilities. But they're not a major focus in the series, as much as I want them to be.
2) Why do they kidnap humans, especially chefs from the Next Top Chef competition?
- There are some possibilities, based on tropes/cliches and references we always see in sci-fi stuff with aliens in it.
→ Enslave them. Yeah, sorry for being a little too far for this, although it will be an extremely small chance of this happening since this was supposedly a kid's show. It would be a form of forcing them to cook for them 24/7, or just the generic slavery.
→ Research of humans, although it also has a small chance of happening, but at least bigger chance than slavery. They abduct tens of humans to know more about them, and humans as whole, possibly for malicious intent such as a nationwide invasion of Makania.
→ TBA, will continue this once I get more ideas.
3) The restaurant Pak Kareem and Naz works at will be closed, due to bankruptcy and lack of one of the workers.
- Sorry to say this, I know this is the last thing we want, but it is highly possible since the competition is a scam. Naz is (potentially) a minor, which is someone under 18, so he probably can't handle the restaurant all alone. He might live with Mak Sue, though. We didn't see Naz's mother yet.
4) Naz keeps his resentment towards the Mantop people, and will do anything to stop them and get his Appa back.
- WHICH MEANS THERE MIGHT BE A SEASON 2 OF MAKANIA!
→ His first efforts of taking down the villains who took away his father didn't succeed, and is all in vain. But he can't move on even if he should do so, because he doesn't want to lose someone he knows and loves.
→ Naz will work even harder to prepare if the aliens came back to Earth, or will go to the planet himself (or with Mak Sue) to fight the people he has keep his vengeance and resentment to, with a 50/50 chance of victory and getting his father back or has his effort in vain again.
→ I mean, he's the chosen one after all. He's basically the sole survivor of all the contestants (if not just the winners) who the rest unfortunately got abducted by the Mantop people.
I think that's probably all for my theories for now. But remember, it's just a theory, a Mantop Theory!
Any theories you have in mind?
