November 2022 Update Post


Game is still slow as per usual. Because of my bad leadership combined with people having other things to do, the game will still go slow to get completed. I don't have anything crazy to show you that's new, all I have really done has started on the main menu and added in more characters.

I will say that I myself have started making some assets for the characters. They aren't the best, but they are good enough for the game's standards I think, so that's cool.

In terms of voice acting, I wanna add it. Not everyone will get voices of course, but it'll be a small but cool thing to add into the game. I will be searching through Discord to get voice actors instead of making a casting call. The quote in the game over screen are gonna get removed if this plan is successful.

Now here are the big stuff, I wanna talk about, the story/lore elements of the game. For the longest time I have been trying to implement this simple story into these games. The original, DJUCN2, the cancelled DMCN. I wanted to try putting it into this game, however ever since development first started I have only thought of a beginning cutscene and a final boss night, that's it. I have decided because of this, and the nature of these DJUCN games, I am going to remove it. It's hard to make a story for this game with a bunch of characters from different games and media, and putting them all into a custom night game. These games have always focused more on having fun gameplay and charm then telling an actual story.

So to replace the story, I have gathered enough ideas I think to satisfy you with the replacement if you even cared in the first place. First off, the roster size will get increased from 120 characters to 140. There is a chance I may add an extra 10 characters to the 140 so it's 150, but that is as far as I'm willing to go. All max will still be intended to be beatable, however because of the removal of the story, it'll now be a challenge. Secondly, there will now be a leveling system. Every level you will get this thing (Unsure what it is for now) for a now new skill tree. Every 5 or so levels you get several coins to use them on powerups and cosmetics. Lastly I am going to add save files, and the return of the difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard modes). For the difficulties this time around, it will be more than just characters attacking faster/slower, there will be more differences. For the modes, you have to select one of them for a save file. You CANNOT change it once you have already selected it, unless you end up deleting the save file.

That's it in terms of the actual game itself. My goal for the release of this game is still early 2023 (Jan-April). I think I will have enough time to do that going by the current game's development speed. Now I have decided that I made a new Gamejolt community. It is once again specifically for me. It'll be somewhat different from my last one, adding in sections for each of my games coming forward.

Merry Christmas everyone!

We put the "custom" in Ultimate Custom Night, as you'll be able to change the GUI colors! Still a WIP as this will get more updated later on but for now here is a preview!
