On past month, I've been reworking my old crossover project derived from @GermanPeter 's Overtime.

I'm re-introducing the freshly-polished and well-expanded concept of Overtime: Australium Chase!

Read the article for more details!

Concept Change

Back in 2021, I thought there could be some way to tell a different story, just like GermanPeter did. But Deltarune was still in two chapters, and I had absolutely no idea how the story would continue, and who would replace certain characters. Keeping Overtime characters in their original roles would make no sense, because Undertale characters play a minor role in Deltarune, if only briefly having some more screen time and importance. Still, the mercenaries were always key figures in both TF2 and TF Comics.

So, I'm making a significant change: the character party won't be just three-four characters! As TF Comics have come to conclusion, and Deltarune is done more than a half of full game, I've come to idea that OTAUC will follow TF Comics' original storyline, with some slight differences for the characters fitting their Deltarune role.

Besides, Deltarune has introduced a new concept that the Prophecy cannot be altered, so, technically, OTAUC could be a game adaptation* of TF Comics, similar to how Lord of the Hammer and Dragon Blazers adapted Prophecy with some changes.

*(I'm not much of programmer, so, just like @Kane , I'm only creating ideas for potential game.)

Unlike Deltarune, which serves as a parallel world to Undertale, OTAUC is indeed threequel of Overtime and Overtime Straw, the latter of which is also my idea.

Chapter List

Since that point, any piece of content is a subject to change after more Deltarune chapters are out!

The story itself could be split in two arcs: "Pauling & Mercenaries" and "Saxton & Margret".

  • Chapter 1: Mann vs. Machine. This chapter serves as "prologue", not following any of Team Fortress Comics. The player can form a team of any three mercenaries, willingly changing them at each save point, as well as get alternate weapons and upgrades along the way. Unlike the in-game "Mann vs. Machine" mode, the mercenaries take a long trip across various Mann Co.-controlled territories, defending them from robots and eventually hiding in the dropship, arriving to yet another territory that robots are going to siege. After defeating Heavy Metal, they realize that the war has just began, and prepare for the next day.
The Shadow Crystal Boss plotline mostly parallels the events of "Doom-Mates" promo comic and the maps from 2012 Halloween upate.
The next chapters contain spoilers to Team Fortress Comics! (I've tried to minimalize spoilers, so you can just read comics)

  • Chapter 2: Unhappy Dismissal. This chapter partially adapts TF Comics Issue 1 and 2. Aside from canon events, such as Saxton fighting with CEO of Gray Gravel Co., and mercenaries justifying Scout and Spy on trial, this Chapter features many filler events, such as mercenaries fighting more robots, Saxton and Mags fighting animals during their trip to Darling, and, probably, some kind of giant mech at finale.

  • Chapter 3: Hellish Returns. This chapter partially adapts TF Comics Issue 3 and 4. This chapter features Pauling spectating Scout, Soldier and Pyro in Siberia in 8-bit style, which would be similar to GermanPeter's another game "Bros in Harms". During frostbite hallucinations, Mercenaries confront the ghosts of Redmond and Blutarch, and later, their cousins Grengoria and Yelwiana, deciding on each round which sibling shall win the Haunted Gravel War, and assisting the selected heir. Meanwhile Saxton and Mags confront Darling. After confrontation, Saxton travels to Australia, where he meets The Winning Mann Ghost. If this boss is defeated, an epilogue scene with TFC Mercenaries will be shown.

  • Chapter 4: Bloody Wounds. This chapter partially adapts TF Comics Issue 4 and 5. The mercenaries depart to Australia, splitting in groups. After Pauling and Tavish meet the hermit Sniper, the gang rides a submarine to New Zealand. After Sniper's rendezvous with Bill-Bel and some filler battles, the team gets ambushed by Team Gray (TFC Mercenaries) and Eli. At the Gray Gravel Co. HQ, mercenaries defeat some of the old mercs and confront a horde of new robots.

Characters and Roles

  • Kris - Miss Pauling. Like in Overtime, her primary mission is to kill a Mann, now the third of the brothers, Gray Mann. Along with that, she also has the duty to find Australium.

    image.png
  • Susie's role is taken by two characters:

    • Saxton Hale. Along with Miss Pauling and his old friend Margret, he is fighting Gray's army for his corporation Mann Co. He can perform Saxton Punch, which is identical to the Rude Buster.

      image.png
    • Zhanna is one of key figures since Chapter 3, who joins Miss Pauling's mercenary army.

      image.png
  • Ralsei - Royp. They are a mysterious pyromaniac that wears Pyromancer's Raiments and Seared Sorcerer, revealing their true face mask at the end of Chapter 1, turning out to be Pyro themself, who grew up into a teen. Their equivalent of Pacify spell is Compression Blast, while Heal Prayer is replaced with Extinguishing.

    image.png
  • The Overtime mercenaries, despite being counterparts of Undertale characters, follow their canon story from Team Fortress Comics since Chapter 2, while all being equally playable in Chapter 1. (except Sani (Toriel), who became a peaceful pediatrician at the end of Overtime)

    • Jane Doe (Papyrus) is the second starter mercenary since Chapter 2, after Pyro. His default weapon is Rocket Launcher, and his special moves include Buff Banner and Neck Snap, the latter of which instantly kills TIRED enemies.

    • Tavish (Undyne) is the third starter mercenary since Chapter 2. His default weapon is Eyelander, and his special moves include Head Slay, which requires enemy's health to be almost critical, and Scottish Queen, which makes for few turns every enemy attack that is targeted on him result in counter-damage if he gets hurt. During fight with Mecha Leeches, he can use the Intoxication ablility, to disable blood-sucking robots.

    • Spy (Muffet) is one of key figures in Chapter 2, whom the mercenaries are taking from jail.

    • Jeremy Scott Willis (Mettaton) is one of key figures in Chapter 2, whom the mercenaries are taking from jail.

    • Misha (Asgore) is one of key figures since Chapter 3.

    • Mr. Mundy (Doggo/Mad Dummy) is one of key figures since Chapter 4.

    • Eli (Alphys) is one of key figures since Chapter 4, who was hired by the group of elderly, more menacing TFC mercenaries.

    • Dell (Sans) still retains his laidback personality, however, he provides the same teleporters that function as save points, just like in Overtime. Despite he is still inherited Sans' traits, his absence until TF Comics 6 is similar to Papyrus in Deltarune.

  • Lancer - Engine. A defective, tauntful engineer robot with bipolar disorder, that frequently fails to stop the heroes.

    image.png
  • Rudinn - Soldier Robot

  • Hathy - Demoman Robot

  • C. Round/K. Round - Sentrybuster. While initially introduced in a weaker form, it turns out to be extremely dangerous.

    image.png
  • Rouxls Kaard - Scoutbot Prime. His puzzles involve surprising baseballs, Mad Milk and other projectiles, which make puzzles slightly harder.

    image.png
  • King of Spades - Heavy Metal. The giant heavy robot that was dropped as the final menace for the first day of Robot War.

  • Jevil - Merasmus. This mad magician of misfortune wants to play on his own carnival of carnage.

    image.png
  • Noelle - Margret. She is Saxton's old friend who helps him return Mann Co.

    image.png
  • Berdly - Teufort Mayor, who sued Scout and Spy.

  • Queen - Olivia Mann. The heir to Gray Mann and a technologically savvy child-CEO, this little girl commands hordes of robots like an adult.

  • Sweet Cap'n Cakes - Dancing Scoutbots Trio. Sweet's counterpart dances Mannrobics, Cap'n dances Conga, and K_K dances Kazotsky Kick.

  • Ambyu-Lance - Medic Robot

  • Virovirokun - Sniper Robot

  • Poppup - Spy Robot

  • Addisons - the Miniculii

    image.png
  • Spamton - Dark Miniculus. Unlike its numerous brethren, this floating eyeball once belonged to a Scottish cyclops. It hopes to become a big demon - MONOCULUS!

    image.png
    image.png
  • Broken NEO machine - BLU Demoman. After a long war over the pathetic gravel, the curse in his corpse's eyesocket still remains.

    image.png
  • Thrash Machine - Tank Robot. During Chapter 1, Gray Gravel Co. made blueprints of this mighty machine, which were later stolen by Mann Co. However, Gray kept a backup copy.

  • Tenna - Charles Darling. An old rival of Saxton Hale.

  • Lanino & Elnina - Redmond, Blutarch, Grengoria and Yelwiana Mann. After their seemingful giveup after the events of Overtime and Overtime Straw, their ghosts still keep war over now-haunted gravel lands.

  • ERAM - The Winning Mann Cousin Ghost. Their identity depends on which of the four you supported.

  • Mike - Gray Mann. The cunning son of Zepheniah, he aims to take over Mann Co., which was bequeathed to Saxton Hale.

    image.png
  • Knight - TFC Heavy. Seeking for immortality and ultimate power, he seems even more menacing than the great Mann himself.

  • Rudolph Holiday - Bidwell and Reddy. Saxton Hale’s loyal assistants. They provide the humor and the connection to Mann Co.’s "golden age" before the robot invasion.

  • Carol Holiday - The Administrator

  • Gerson Boom - Bill-Bel, Sniper's biological father

  • Jackenstein - TFC Mercenaries' submarine deck. Instead of "YOUR TAKING TOO LONG", they will scream "FOUND YOU" from collaged pieces of TF1 Classic voice clips.

  • Hammer of Justice - Headless Horseless Horsemann

  • Sound of Justice - TFC Pyro, Spy and Demoman

  • Titan Spawns - Mecha Leeches

  • Titan - Unnamed giant robot

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Even though there will be some organic enemies, most of them are robots who cannot be RECRUITed. The analog of RECRUIT system will be SCRAP, which can be acquired by destroying robots and can be spent for weapon crafting.

  • The shops are self-service, much like in Mann vs. Machine. Because the main conflict of TF Comics is the deficite of Australium, the currency used for food and upgrades is the Credits.

  • The counterpart of Weird Route is named Saxxy Route, and will only be applicable to "Saxton & Margret arc" segments of the game. Margret can find either a Saxxy statue or Golden Pan somewhere (haven't decided where exactly), and turn enemies into huge Australium statues, which can potentially be used up for more stronger upgrades.

Even though #UnderEvent 2025 is delayed, I still hope that Ricky will make his Last Devlog of 2.8. Chara & Azzy are writing Santa a letter to to make it true!

It was a Christmas miracle when I was reading his 2022, 23 and 24 devlogs right on Holidays.

Some might say that this picture is no different from RickyG's 2023 postcard, because everything on it "never wasn’t there, and it will never not be there".

Others might disagree with that.

Anyways, Happy 10th Anniversary, UPPERTALE!

Dev Update - February 2026

Undertale, but nothing's wrong.

Happy upcoming Year of the Horse!

Prior to Chapter 3 and 4 release, my routes for Vess and Chara vessels were inverted, because I didn't have an idea what exactly Twisted Sword might grand the wielder.
