[READ ARTICLE] Sonic and the Lord of the Rings Connection 💍🦔

Happy #HobbitDay to all fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless world! Today, while celebrating The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, it’s fun to think about how Sonic the Hedgehog shares a surprising connection with these legendary stories: Rings.

In Middle-earth, the One Ring represents immense power and destiny. In Sonic’s world, Rings are symbols of life, protection, and energy. While they serve very different purposes, both universes use rings as central, iconic elements that define their stories and heroes.

Interestingly, many fans have joked about the crossover potential, “One Ring to rule them all… or hundreds of golden Rings to keep Sonic safe.” Even in the Sonic movies, the Rings take on a more mystical role, acting as teleportation portals, almost echoing Tolkien’s magical artifacts.

So on this #HobbitDay, it’s cool to see how two completely different franchises share one golden bond: the power of the Ring.

(SPOILER IN ARTICLE, ig.)

Anyways, i hope you like it

For my current game, I've moved from Pocket Code to GameMaker Studio. It was a great place to start on my phone, but GMS gives me the power I need to really nail those #Sonic physics and speed thanks to help from others Devs too. #Devruary

My least favorite part is ofc, finding bugs that ruins my experience. It can be so frustrating when the #Sonic physics don't behave or I find a glitch sprite asset but solving them is the only way to get that smooth gameplay. #Devruary #Sonic #SonicJ

My planning? Well, I keep it simple:

I get an idea, think about how it fits the #Sonic style, and start building.

I prefer jumping into the engine and seeing what feels right.

I use Sonic Maker as image example btw.

My favorite part of gamedev is playing them. Nothing beats the feeling of finally testing a level and seeing the #Sonic physics click into place. Specially with Sonic J by @jtn00b , It makes the work worth it! Thanks Jean!
