Hi guys!
Been a while since I've been active on Game Jolt, but I'm off hiatus and working on the Fazbear Tomb again, as well as other projects. Working on my fnaf related project(s) has brought me back to the main idea of the original fnaf.
What made the original fnaf game so special was not it trying to be inherently scare, but to creep you out. The whole reason animatronics were creepy in the first place, was because of the fact that they sat so perfectly in the uncanny valley, being known for being bad at imitating life. I've grown really connected to the original animatronic designs, and it's my basis on what I think they should look like involving my fnaf related projects.
I have stated before in other settings that I am not a fan of animatronic designs that are intentionally made to scare you (in terms of the fnaf characters). The old models that I made for The Fazbear Tomb were what I would now consider to be too over-the-top-creepy, where you look at it and it's like "there's no way that could even be considered cute at all". And so, I've decided to remodel the characters to more closely resemble the fnaf 1 cast (with my stylistic design changes).
The gameplay is also not going to follow a loop that is identical to fnaf 1, like it did in the demo. Before, it felt like just a fnaf 1 clone, the only difference being the cutscenes (which will remain in the full game).
I aim to highlight what Five Nights at Freddy's was as a game and as a franchise, while also giving it my own grotesque additions and new takes on the story, and the gameplay.
I plan to release more behind the scenes content, and more previews for the full game as I work on it.
Sincerely, Maroon Fox.
