Respin Demo Dev Log and Small Updates (7/22/25):

Hello, it's been a while, sorry for keeping you waiting. Let me tell you what has changed as of now.

Although progress on the game is still slow at the moment, I have made significant progress on it over the last few weeks. Many of the game's assets are complete; it's mainly the coding, music, and some reworked mischievous stuff that are left until the demo is ready. Ok, with that said, let's get into the log.

Firstly, Hard Mode is now fully coded and has been slightly changed. I originally planned for Hard Mode to boost the AI levels of the characters. However, due to some gameplay issues, I removed that element from the difficulty and made it just a lives-based system instead. Hard Mode gives you 5 lives to go through the whole game, and if you die on your last life, your save gets reset to the beginning. It's just an extra fun challenge I wanted to add for those who want a little more difficulty. As of now, Hard Mode is still undergoing testing to make sure it fully works as intended.

Another thing I changed with the game is how Clone Mario, Yoshi, and Tails' AI works. I decided to rework their AI coding to make it cleaner and fix a few bugs present in some testing. Clone Mario was giving me the most issues when it comes to his AI, breaking every time when I change his coding in some way. But, after some changes and tweaking, they should be working more appropriately now. I also added a kill timer to all of them to make them more fair when attacking in the office room.

I also finished the 6 AM screen by giving it a BG and displaying how much power you had left and how many times you died in that night.

That's all I can show rn, there is other stuff that has been done but I'm not showing those just yet ;). However, I can say that the demo will have an OST, being worked on by stootmccool, as well as GameJolt account login and trophies to collect, with 2 demo-exclusive ones. I hope you are looking forward to those.

Before I end this dev log, I would like to show one last thing. I would like to introduce you guys, gals, and non-binary pals to the new Nightmode designs for Sonic, Mario, Yoshi, and, recently given as well, Tails. After getting some feedback on the current designs, I decided to go back and remake their look to be more deformed and intimidating since they are clones that can mutate in a way. I'm proud of how these came out since I feel like the previous one where lacking in appearance. You can take a look at each blow:

Please note that these design won't be in the demo; the characters will be redrawn with these updated looks in the full game's development as to not delay the development time on the demo. I will update the game page to include these new artworks soon.

And yeah, that's it for everything I want to share. Sorry for the long, unexpected hiatus around this game, but I hope to get things moving forward again. If you want to know what the percentage of the demo is, I will say the demo is around 90% done as I'm writing this. Also, this update log may feature some grammatical errors and such since I kinda rushed this out, so yeah.

I forgot to post this a while ago. Anyway, GRIM (aka PURPLE.EXE) redesign is finally done. The virus trio now has up-to-date designs! I'm proud of how this turned out.

I might as well show this artwork. I lost a bet with @yahooyowza in a VC a long while ago. So I made my own retake on Dandy's design, like he said.

I made this before I got truly into the game.

#GJAsks What's Your Favorite Video Game Monster? Withered Bonnie is really cool and scary-looking. I still like this design a lot.
