RINSED - Devlog #10


Hello there!

As mentioned in the previous devlog, we have been busy polishing existing gameplay elements and adding new ones to create a much more smoother and easier to understand gameplay experience!


Besides completly overworking the character controller, which is a big step forward to a much more smoother gameplay with less situations of the player beign stuck and struggeling to move certain paths, Finn added a message log system! We use this system to display important information directly to the player and give little hints as seen on the picture below on which i tryed to open a hatch by spamming my mouse button without having the right key.

Besides many more little improvements based on our playtesters feedback, we started thinking about adding mounts! Mounts will be a late game feature and will allow you to travel the lands much easier and even carry around more items!

We are not sure if mounts will make it into the open beta of the game, but we will try our best!

Map wise, I worked on a lot of areas! The big town in the north of the map is finally getting completed this weekend. In this kind of hard to reach town you will find a lot of stores and interesting scenery.

I also reworked the swamplands, changed the overall colors and added a feature which allows our fog to get denser as soon as you enter the swamplands.

Thats it for this weeks devlog!

We will have another playtesting session with a few friends next week to ensure that our game is as enjoyable as possible! After that, we will begin to add a few more features, areas and do more adjustments. As already mentioned we hope to lunch a open beta in about 2 months :)

Hey everyone! I just wanted to quickly announce that 9:16 is now free for everyone to download! It's been a while since I worked on this project and I decided that I want everyone to experience this unique project instead of hiding it behind a paywall!

Those zip-lines were once used to transport goods from the mountains into the villages below but now they make a great (and fun) shortcut for all adventurers!

Released a very little very unfinished something!

Medieval times with zombies was always a thing I dreamed off so I messed around with the idea a bit in the past few weeks. This is by no means a finished game! But if you have fun with it: Go ahead!

Made new Flowerpots with different variants for further decorating cities and villages! :)

Farmers crazy enough to grow food in the harsh conditions of the northern isles often need to use a few tricks to protect their plants! This seaside farmer has stacked lots of rocks high enough to protect his crops from the cold wind.

A little sneak peek on the first Island you will be able to travel to by ship! This island features lush green vegetation, lots of flowers, new wildlife, and of course rare items and a few riddles ;)

In the depth of the mine, the rare glow-stone ore can be found! It is used all around the midlands to power lanterns and is a great, safe, alternative to candles!

Zombies are now a bit... Lets say "more motivated" in the darkness of the night!

If you ever wanted to get a better/closer look at your nemesis, this is her! During development I nicknamed her "Emma"

Exploring uncharted Islands always comes with a risk! What creatures lurk in the dark forests? What treasures await you in the distant ruins?

Make sure to pack some soup because travelling between islands will soon come to RINSED!
