Episode V: Signing Øff
We see Sidney get a call from a contact named Gale. She still hesitantly answers
Sidney: Hello?
Gale: Hey Sid
Sidney: Gale?
Gale: The one and only
Sidney: What’s the call about?
Gale: Ghostface is back, right?
Sidney: Oh no, Gale you are not coming back to Woodsboro
Gale: Sid, you aren’t stopping me, I’m a part of this now
Sidney: Gale, you idiot
Gale: You can’t change my mind, I need to solve this with you
Sidney: Gale, please. I don’t want you to die too
Gale: I won’t, I’ve made it this far for a reason, and so have you. So how’s Jennifer?
Sidney: A bit annoyed, I banned her from going out, gotta stay safe, y’know?
Gale: She’ll understand eventually
Sidney: I know. How’s New York?
Gale: Not all it’s cracked up to be
Sidney: (chuckles) That checks out. I’ll see you here, I’ll text you the address
Gale: Alright, see you there Sid
Sidney: See ya
Sidney looks at a picture of Her, Gale, and Dewey and smiles softly
We fade into the TITLE CARD “Signing Øff”
We cut to Charlie, in his room. He’s only looking at a picture of his mother. His phone buzzes but he doesn’t answer it or breaks his focus. All he cares about is remembering his mother. His phone buzzes again, and again. On the fourth call, he finally answers
Charlie: What is it, Jack?
Jack: I was checking up on you, I was getting worried. I know it’s all hit the fan but we have to Stay Together. He’s trying to split us all up. I have a plan to kill this psycho, but I need you, man. You in or what?
Charlie: I’m in, let’s do this
Jack: That’s what I wanna hear, say it again
Charlie: Let’s do this
Jack: Do what?
Charlie: Kill this psychopath, and make it hurt
Jack: That’s it, I’ll try to get Jen and Hannah to come to the building that party was to discuss it all, it’s on Craven Lane last time I checked
Charlie: Alri- wait what about Valorie?
Jack: If I’m being honest, I think it’s her. Think about it, she has a Ghostface costume, scarily accurate to the ones used for the real killings, and she has the exact knife. I’ve heard the bloodlust in her voice recently, we can’t trust her
Charlie: You may be right
Jack: Exactly, stay away from her, trust me
Charlie: I trust you
Jack: Good, I’ll talk to you later, man
Charlie: Talk to you later
Charlie hangs up and thinks about what Jack said
Charlie: Hannah’s close to Valorie... It all makes sense, she’s the killer. Valorie’s getting close to Hannah to give her an alibi
We cut to Wesley at the police station
Officer: Wes, we have the results of the DNA test on that extra blood
Wesley: Alright, tell me
Officer: It matches up with Jack Blair
Wesley: Jack?
Officer: Indeed
Wesley: Shoot, we need to find him quick
Officer: That’s not the biggest part, Wes
Wesley: Then what is?
Officer: There’s no official Jack Blair in Woodsboro
Wesley: What
Officer: Tracking him will be a pain, he’s been living by a fake name
Wesley: Jesus, get everyone on this, we need to stop him
We cut to a door, with a knock. It opens and it’s Gale Weathers. Sidney hugs her
Gale: Hey, Sid
Sidney: Promise me you’ll get out of here right after
Gale: That’s a great welcome
Sidney: I’m just worried about you
Gale: I know, this is all unnerving
Sidney: Come inside
Gale walks in and looks around, then Jennifer comes downstairs
Gale: Oh, Hi Jen
Jennifer: G-Gale Weathers…
Gale: Believe it or not I knew you as a baby
Sidney: You’ve heard about Gale. About time you met her
Jennifer: Y’think?
Gale: Well, I’m Gale Weathers
Jennifer: I’m Jennifer and a huge fan
Gale: You could’ve asked to call
Jennifer: I could call you this whole time?
Sidney: Well Gale is here to solve this Ghostface stuff, again
Gale: You two got anything?
Sidney: There’s a friend group
Gale: As always
Sidney: And Jen is part of it
Gale: Yikes, fully a target. That’s rough
Jennifer: I thought you’d know
Gale: You been attacked?
Jennifer: No, surprisingly not many people have
Gale: Anyone you think would kill someone? I know it’s a weird question
Jennifer: Hannah’s friend Valorie always seemed a bit suspicious
Gale: Noted
Gale gives Jennifer a card with her phone number
Gale: Call me if you need help, I’ll do some more “Investigative Journaling”
Jennifer: Alright, bye Ms. Weathers
Gale: Bye Jen, bye Sid
Sidney: Bye Gale, good luck
Gale: Thanks, Sid
We cut to Jack, Charlie, and Hannah at the abandoned building where the party on Halloween took place. There’s a big sheet of paper on the ground with a crappy layout of the building drawn on it
Jack: Alright here’s the plan
Hannah: Looks like someone watched Home Alone too much
Jack: (sigh) Ok, so I go upstairs while you two are downstairs facing Ghostface, just get him upstairs, there will be a tripwire at the top. There, I’ll be ready to hit him with a bat, right in the head. Then we find out who this is after, alright?
Charlie: So we’re bait?
Jack: If that’s what you wanna call it
Hannah: Where’s Jennifer?
Jack: Her mom won’t let her leave the house
Hannah: And Valorie?
Jack: She, uh- She already knows the plan
Charlie: Yeah, we ran into her earlier and we told her it then
Hannah: Alright, I’mma get going, I have stuff to do. See y’all later
We follow Hannah as she walks out of the building into the rain. She walks down the sidewalk, eventually coming to an intersection. A car speeds past it, running the red light. We cut to seeing the aftermath of a car crash. The road is icy and there’s slushy snow around. Squad cars and ambulances surround the intersection and the sound of sirens ring out. One of the car’s driver side doors is pushed in deep. The other car involved seemed to have little damage on the front, where it had clearly hit the other car. We cut back to Hannah, more tears streaming down her face. We cut to a darker part of town at night. It’s raining with the street lights reflecting off of the wet ground. Marcus Elliot walks into an alley and behind a dumpster, hidden from view. We then see him walk out in a Ghostface costume, one just like the real ones. Then he gets pinned to the ground by another Ghostface, who stabs him in the stomach. The Ghostface repeatedly stabs him in the stomach and pulls out one of his intestines. Marcus Screams. The Ghostface stops and rips off Marcus’ mask
Ghostface: Hellø, Marcus. I have a game før yøu, well møre øf a deal really. Answer my questiøns, and maybe I’ll kill yøu quicker. Døn’t answer my questiøns, and I’ll make it hurt
Marcus: Wh-Who are you?!
Ghostface: I said yøu’ll answer my questiøns, I wøn’t answer yøurs. Nøw, first øff, whø's the secønd Ghøstface?
Marcus: I won’t tell you-
Ghostface rips out more of his intestines slowly and painfully, making Marcus Scream more
Ghostface: That hurts døesn’t it? Nøw, tell me
Marcus: I will just please stop
Ghostface: Then gø øn
Marcus: Valorie-
Ghostface: Marcus, I’m sørry but that isn’t the answer I’m løøking før. I tøld yøu the rules
Ghostface gets up and stomps on his stomach repeatedly until all his abdominal organs are smashed into a mushy, squishy, and chunky red puddle. Marcus chokes on his own blood, unable to Scream. Ghostface moves face to face with Marcus
Ghostface: Savør this face. It’s the last øne yøu’ll ever see
We see a rear view as the Ghostface removes the mask and drops Marcus back down. The Ghostface has a hood up concealing their hair. They light a cigarette and bring it to their mouth. They put the mask back on and turn to the camera checking for anyone down at the entrance of the alley then leaves down the other side and drops the cigarette. We get a close-up on the cigarette being extinguished from the rain. We cut to Gale walking into the abandoned building and she sees that Jack and Charlie are still there
Charlie: Is that-
Gale: It sure is, what’re you guys doing here?
Jack: We have a plan to catch Ghostface, we’re involved in all this
Gale: You must be Jennifer’s friends
Jack: Yeah, Hannah’s in on this entire thing
Gale: So my guess is you’re gonna lure them in here?
Charlie: Yeah, then lead him upstairs and trip him.
Gale: That’s the most barebones plan I’ve ever heard
Jack: But effective
Gale: Only if everything goes right, maybe I could help adjust-
Jack: Ms. Weathers, we’re good here, we know all you want is another book, we’ll give you the details, don’t worry
Gale: You think that’s what I do this for?
Jack: Everybody knows that it’s the truth, Gale. Get out of here, your 15 minutes are up
Gale glares at Jack and walks out of the building. Charlie looks to Jack, a bit concerned
Charlie: What was that for?
Jack: The plan’s not designed for Gale to be part of it, we just need to leave her out of it. Besides, it’s obvious she wants to write a book on this whole thing too
Charlie: She could’ve helped us
Jack: No she couldn’t, because we got this, Gale will weigh us down
Charlie: If you say so
Later in the night, Gale is lying in a bed at a motel, swiping through pictures on her phone. Pictures with Dewey and Sidney. Then she gets a phone call. She hesitates for a moment then decides to answer the call
Ghostface: Hellø, Gale. We’ve never øfficially spøken øn the phøne beføre, this is løng øverdue
Gale: Why? Why restart this endless cycle?
Ghostface: Why nøt?
Gale: At least be original
Ghostface: Øh, I will be, because I’m different cømpared tø the øthers
Gale: And how’s that?
Ghostface: I’m gøing tø succeed
Gale: That’s what they all think
Ghostface: But nøt what they dø
Gale: You might as well turn yourself in before things get messy
Ghostface: Øh, it’ll get messy alright
Gale: Yeah, when a bullet goes through your head and you involuntarily paint the walls
Ghostface: Yøu seem pretty cønfident, Gale
Gale: Cause you’re like the tenth guy to try this
Ghostface: And the first tø get ahøld øf yøu, I’m already øff tø a gøød start
Gale: If you’re at such a good start, what’re you waiting for? I’m ready for you
Ghostface: Yøu think yøu are, Gale. But yøu’re nøt
Gale: Why’s that?
Ghostface: Sømeøne whø was ready wøuldn’t leave their døør unløcked
Gale’s heart drops when she hears this. She turns to the door to her motel room and draws her Ruger SR9c and aims at the door
Ghostface: Put the gun døwn, Gale
Gale: Why should I?
Ghostface: I have a deal, yøu leave this all aløne, yøu live. We døn’t lie. We have a deal, Weathers?
We fade into the TITLE CARD again “Signing Øff”
