Happy Halloween, adventurers!
It's been 2 months, so it's finally time for another devlog! It's not spooky or anything, it just happens to be Halloween.
2 months ago, I finished map 3. Now, map 4 of 9 is almost done, just a boss or two to make!
Work on it went quick, mostly because I already had a lot of ideas for this map, and had been looking forward to it for a long time.
Also made a bunch of new enemies and stuff, including quite a big addition: Critical hits!
Such a simple thing has made a nice difference in combat, helping offset my feelings that some enemies take too long to kill. It's satisfying hearing the critical sound too.
SEPT-OCT 2023
Current Map: 4 of 9 (81/81 sectors done)
- Fixed/changed a bunch of things after a tester played map 3. Thanks!
- Added some extra tutorial/explanation stuff
- Did some cleaning up/optimizing of earlier map(s)
- Optimized the way lighting works
- Implemented critical hit chances for weapon attacks!
- Rebalanced/improved functionality of some spells
- Added important area names to mini-map when choosing warp destination (VIDEO)
- Made a bunch of graphics for current map
- Fully implemented multiple NPCs for current map
- Made a bunch of new puzzle elements for current map
- Made a few new traps/dangers for current map
- Made 6 new enemies
- Made entire map!
- Started making a mini-boss
- Started making the main boss of the map
- And more!
Current progress estimate: 40%
That's it for this month.
I'm starting to feel low on creative juices again, but hopefully see you in another 2 months, at year's end, for another devlog, where I hope to be deep in development of map 5!
