-Ruins Guardian
A lot of stuff was cut from the game early on. The team hadn't decided on a main identity for the game at that point, and hence, we kind of threw stuff at the wall until things worked.
Take this fellow for example, this is the only remaining proof that the Guardian of the Ruins existed. He was the second iteration of the Ruins Boss. From what I can remember he was a golem animated before the monsters moved from HOME to the rest of the underground, in case humans tried to attack. That's really all he had going for him, showing why he was scrapped. Being replaced by a failure that led to a much better replacement. =)
He was heavily inspired by TeamUTY's Guardener and Ghibli's Laputa Robots!
-Bee Guy
The first iteration of the Ruins boss was this Beekeeper monster that left honey around the Ruins in case a human fell down. The idea being that he thought that if he made ammends with the humans, he'd be let out. He had a lot of designs that sadly really went nowhere.
He's kind of an embarrassment for me. I hate him.
-Parano
Third and last abandoned iteration of the Ruins boss! Was supposed to be a priest of the angel that was really old and had PTSD from the war. In retrospect that's really all we made for him, which explains why I scrapped him after realizing he didn't make me happy unlike Dante. you've seen him before.
Moving on from abandoned Ruins bosses, have some fun behind the scenes stuff!
-BHtS stuff
At first I had a lot of trouble making Dante's sprite, so I had to draw him first to then shrink down and trace over to make his sprite, this was that drawing!
This is Steven. I only drew him once. This is both his first sketch, and final sprite. He does nothing, but he's definitely getting in the game. He's an in-joke within the team.
This was actually the soul used to test the battle system. I think it's pretty funny.
Another in-joke that went off for a couple weeks both before and after.
Another in-joke where the team joked around that Dante would dust monsters by "Shooting them with his laser", led to this. Whole thing is still pretty fun.
And that's it! Hoping to report more on the next devlog or article, but for now, this is where it ends! See ya' all!
