Some ideas for Game Jolt. Viewer discretion is advised. (Not really, I just felt like saying that. )

Also, this is a very long post, so open at your own risk.

Warning: Some of these may be bad ideas or a big ol' pain to add across Game Jolt's various modes of access (e.g. web, desktop app, mobile app). Also, I'm sure some of these have already been suggested/requested, I actually haven't a clue with most of them, so I'm not taking credit for anything, just stating some things I'd personally like to see happen so long as the downsides don't outweigh the positive. I also apologize ahead of time for any compositional redundancy.

Bring Fireside chat functionality to the chat system:

  • Allow the owner of the group chat to assign moderators from among the list of users in the group chat, perhaps first sending a simple request to the chosen user so they're not modded against their will, similar to group chat invitations.

  • Chat commands. Nothing fancy, just the kind of chat commands that were possible in Fireside chats.

New stuff for the chat system:

  • Pinned message or an automatic owner-defined message displayed upon first-time entry to the group chat. If automatic, it would have to be displayed in a way that wouldn't be immediately drowned out by high-speed chatting. Useful for displaying an owner's chat rules, the purpose of the chat, a current event, or other information.

  • Allow the owner of the group chat to assign chat invitation rights to: only the owner, the owner and moderators, or everyone.

  • Allow the owner of the chat to choose which users are actually able to chat: just the owner, the owner and moderators, or everyone. Group chats that only allow the owner or moderators to send messages could be used as exclusive and/or early content feeds. (I will explain the use of this feature later.)

  • Allow the owner of the group chat to send a request to a different user to claim ownership.

Increase sustainability of Game Jolt Creator income and add further enrichment for supporters:

  • Add a step-by-step one-time quest that educates users about charged stickers, how they work, how to use them, why they're so important for creators, etc. Not everyone follows the Game Jolt account and community, or reads the help documentation.

  • Do not allow users to turn in quests when charged orbs are full. An orb lost means less support for a creator.

  • Given the above precaution were implemented, perhaps a toggle that allows a user to complete daily quests automatically as they unknowingly fulfill the requirements without having to turn them in manually. The reason I beilieve this should be an option is because some can't be bothered to turn in quests (thus cutting down potential support for creators), while others feel a sense of accomplishment when they turn in quests manually. If such a toggle existed, users who choose the automatic route should receive some form of communication so they know when they've completed a daily quest, and also when their charged orbs are full. If they still don't place charged stickers on creator posts at that point, well, I don't know what to say. LOL

  • Allow supporters to place basic creator stickers on posts other than ones made by the creator in question. To prevent potential discouragement or discord among creators or users who may not get along, add a toggle in account settings that hides basic creator stickers (this shouldn't hide premium stickers, because supporters pay to be able to use those anywhere and have them publicly seen).

  • Tiered supporter rewards. Since only so many charged stickers are possible from one user per month, these should work based on the amount of stickers a user has given during a 30-day period, not by their placement on the top supporter list. Example: 10 charged stickers given to [insert Creator here] within a 30-day period unlocks a time-limited static post background made by the creator, 20 charged stickers gives time-limited access to a creator's group chat or exclusive/early content feed (in the case of malicious intent, this access would be cut off from a user upon getting kicked from the chat/feed, but this should also be revertible), 30 charged stickers gives time-limited access to a static avatar frame made by the creator, and the maximum possible stickers given within a 30-day period earns the supporter a permanent achievement made by the creator. Time-limited perks give users further reason to continue supporting a creator. Permanent perks give users reason to change who they support with stickers from one month to the next. Static rewards give users something to show for their support even if they can't purchase animated shop items, and would increase the sense of comradery among fans of a specific creator.

  • Some kind of time-limited creator-made shiny badge or title that displays on a supporter's profile if they have given 30 or more charged stickers to a creator within a 30-day period. By "shiny," I mean some kind of effect added via code by the GJ dev team that goes behind the badge or title to make it more exciting. The top supporter chart on creator profiles is lovely, but I think users also love having something to show off on their own profiles, and this cosmetic—if you will—would also be obtainable by those who cannot purchase shop items.

  • This is more of a side note, but whenever I use the term "time-limited," obviously these rewards should be kept as long as a supporter has met the required threshold of charged stickers given within a 30-day period.

Extend functionality of posts:

  • Alt text for the visually impaired and deaf (in the case of explaining what is happening or being said in a video that does not contain subtitles).

  • Collapsible text blocks within articles... This is pretty much just for my pinned post that is getting insanely long, but I'm sure someone else would find a use for them??? LOLOL Well for that matter, I probably could have used them in this post.

More Blobcat:

  • Just... More Blobcat. That is all.

You know what? I think I had more ideas when I woke up this morning, but my brain... I forgor. Ah well, I'll just have to post whatever they were some other time. Hope this is helpful in some way, love ya Game Jolt, and hope everyone is on their way to a lovely weekend.

Here's a wild petunia I spotted.

Today was a busy day for me. Painted some new patterns, worked outside, tech support for a friend, etc. Maybe I'll get some chill time over the weekend? Perhaps???

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! Keep going strong!

I made this minimal pattern for a fabric/wallpaper design challenge on Spoonflower (the 1st one; the others are just variations). It did better than I expected and is currently my most liked pattern over there. It hasn't sold, though.
