Some thoughts during a restless night.

Wow, Vulx0r really gave me a schooling with his constructive criticsm and input with this game that really makes me question my passions and abilities and kind of makes me wonder if all of the art classes I took in high school, the vocational Graphic Design class the lasted two hours a day for two school years in High-school and the currently failed decision to major in CGP in college and the fourteen plus years of study research and practice with art were worth it or not.

I can easily explain that things like all the asteroids having the same mesh are things like that are because this is alpha and that the unnatural colors are more of a tribute to the oddly colored sprites of the 2600 and other consoles of that generation and of course that this game is alpha and that I’ve been fine tuning a lot of this stuff and the graphics that consist of vertices, primitives and vector swf sprites are in a very experimental stage.

Yet I have but one explanation for all of the input he has on the game’s logo, and that is that I suck.

I’ve always felt that I logo design and layout were one of my greater strengths, as I’ve always strived to achieve simplicity and consistency with each one I design and have done this with the countless mockups I’ve designed.

…Somehow I managed to fuck up and go against everything I know with the logo for the main project that I’m passionate about /and/ I’ve also done the same with the, though tentative and experimental placeholder, graphics by failing to revise them a bit before showing them off in the current alpha build.

Yeah, these are just some thoughts and I have three options, pretty much:

  1. Cry about criticism and forever suck.

  2. Give up and chug a gallon of bleach… to smell nice while finding a new identity.

  3. Stay serious about my passion and always work at improvement.

Thinking about it, I’m currently touching on the first option and the second option sounds nice to cope with my depression
but the third one might be the one I have to go with, though I just gotta keep reminding myself that “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.” and not try to be a master at bad habits and incorrect techniques.

I think there may be some other things I meant to mention here, but…
These news articles aren’t a personal diary and I probably shouldn’t be ranting about things like me questioning my identity self-doubt.

If you’ve read this far, congratulations! Feel free to comment if you want and think about checking out my game.

I’m gonna go catch a bit of sleep, because the sun is starting to come up and I was intending to sleep at a normal time that people usually go to sleep at.

See ya.

PS:
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding my work, Vulxor. I greatly appreciate that and am also quite impressed with how in-depth you are with your criticism.
I know you may not benefit from this much, but that could really be applied to comments and blog posts in this community and is one good reason I think you should stick around this community.
