Will is unreliable in this scenario, we don’t know how Mike feels about will, I say will gots some doubt back. Vol 1 Mike and wills convo together, the attempt flirting, the ‘testing the water’ type thang, it was new to do for will, Mike doesn’t pick up on it, he ‘overloaded’ which left will in doubt probably thinking that he just messed up hard. Then Robin and will scene after that, he probably took it the ‘oh because you had Tammy then Vicky, that means I’ll have the same happen to me.’ (Now demonstrated by the coming out scene) 

If byler is still end game, there’s still evidence. If it’s queer bait, then I’m going to be upset but I’ll move on. Again will is unreliable in this scene for if true of not, he can’t speak for Mike, he doesn’t know what Mike is felling. Will has a wall built of not wanting to lose Mike, not wanting to ruin the friendship, you see it in season 4(and others) that he puts his love for Mike aside, he probably got hope in between due to livening with Mike. But will as a character is not all fact for story. He has fears and it’s shown multiple times like putting all blame on himself.
